4 Weeks Post Op - My Update!
So, hey again! I'm now 4 weeks post op! For anybody that hasn't read my previous posts, I had only lower jaw surgery, adding 8mm to its length. I thought I might do a little week by week list of what I did and how it was going, so here it is! Week 1: Surprisingly, I had no pain at all. They gave me ...

Hey, I think it's just down to having not used the muscle for a while. I'm three weeks post op now. I can eat solid foods like a piece of chocolate, but anything soft like bread, I can't break up; it just ends up being squashed flat. I read somewhere that it's a good idea to exercise the jaw muscles...

hey, thanks for the replies. I do have gum swelling behind the back molar also - it's swollen so much that the gum has consumed the brace anchor attached to the tooth and is almost breaching the top of the tooth itself. Though this is being worked on already, and is at the opposite side of my mouth ...

Hi Alison I had the same problem. In fact, at the rear of my mouth, I currently have some gum growth where the gum has actually completely overwhelmed the brace anchor (the anchor is now totally under the gum and cant be seen!). However, I have been dealing with this myself. I did a little research ...

3 Weeks Post Op! Seeking your experiences.
Hi there, three weeks ago I had my lower jaw lengthened 8mm. 2 weeks later the swelling had pretty much completely gone; stitched areas had totally healed. I've always been known for quick healing and it causes more problems than needed in some cases, so don't take this recovery period as a referenc...

Hey there, I'm also based in the UK. My treatment was to correct an overbite -> my lower jaw was lengthened by 8mm. My brace treatment was done privately, and took a little over 3 years. In December, my ortho decided that I was ready for surgery. 1 week later I received a letter confirming my surger...

Hello!
Hi there, I posted this a few days ago, but in the wrong area!: I'm now 1 week and 4 days post-op! I underwent some lower jaw corrective surgery last Tuesday, enlarging the jaw by some 8mm. I thought I'd share my story. When I was 16 years old, I was told that I would need a brace. As any 16 year ol...

Hi Mandy, My surgery has just been completed a week ago. Mine was the opposite, my lower jaw was made 8mm bigger, so I don't know if the options would be the same, but these are the alternatives that were offered to me; 1) A full head brace. It looked like some sort of roller cage for my head. I thi...

Hello metal mouths!
I'm now 1 week and 2 days post-op! I underwent some lower jaw corrective surgery last Tuesday, enlarging the jaw by some 8mm. I thought I'd share my story. When I was 16 years old, I was told that I would need a brace. As any 16 year old I wanted the removable brace, and that's exactly what I did; r...
