Re: JULY 2010 BUDDIES!!!!

Just wanted to bump this thread because.... Yesterday... I was debraced ! It's unbelievable! The change to my teeth now that I can see everything properly is AMAZING. I am beyond happy with everything. It's kind of surreal when I remember what my teeth were like just 3 years ago before my expander. ...

What happens when jaw surgery relapses? They cut the bone and make it longer or shorter...so how can it go back to the way it was? Maybe someone can explain relapse to me. Our bones are always 'alive' so to speak. They are constantly being nourished etc. by what we eat, they are affected by our act...

Good news mitchejk :) Hey everyone - I got my bands off yesterday. I was just wondering, is this aching feeling in my bottom jaw normal? My bottom jaw is really aching, and it's as if I have to consciously hold it in place. Yesterday it didn't ache, it's since I woke up this morning. 2nd question - ...

Thanks so much Isolde that is so comforting. I am in such a state about it all and plus my damn elastics have snapped and unfortunately I live too far from the hospital to just pop in to get them replaced so have to wait until my next post-op on weds. I spoke to my doctor and he said 2 days without...

Didn't realise how many times I said 'Don't worry' there! But it's true, I went from hyper panic on the first day to just resenting the taste of the antibiotics the day after.

Wow thanks so much for that tears really helpful and comforting. I've just got myself into a major panic over it all and what if my plates are infected?! I'm so much more swollen on the side that is infected which now makes sense as I thought that was normal. I've just salt-rinsed. Do you literally...

Yeah, I had an infection too. They are a bugger. My surgeon told me how the mouth is a breeding ground for bacteria and it's one of the places most likely to get an infection, so yeah, they are relatively common. I was (and still am) obsessive with the cleaning as well since day one, no sugar, no lu...

If you don't live in the UK, I'm afraid you don't qualify for NHS treatment.

Although of course I don't know what your individual situation is. That's just the general rule for people who 'permanently' live abroad.

After a couple of weeks I noticed that a couple of my teeth on one side felt VERY sensitive to cold. I resorted to the most extreme situation, hypochondriac that I am, and worried I'd need a crown or something. It was pretty painful. But then after a while it just went. Maybe it was because the teet...

Do you have to press quite hard to 'click' it into position?

I did, it felt horrible to have to press so hard.

Same here. At first they were doing a ok, but now they are eating food in front of me and it really stinks, especially when they eat foods that I really want right now, though everything looks good to me right now. Luckily I get my wires taken out on Tuesday, so not much longer on this liquid...

My family insist on eating my favourite foods whilst I am still drinking freaking soup.

They're ordering pizza tomorrow. No fair.

And I don't see my orthodontist for another 2 weeks! Bloody bands. Is anyone here on soft chew yet?

No alcohol at all for three months, or no excessive alcohol?

I wonder why?

Not that I'm a big drinker or something, just wondering, because no one ever brought it up.

Hello, At day 2 I was already staring into my mouth looking for anything I could point out, so don't forget that it's natural in the first instance to notice all the differences! Your mouth is a very new place right now. I thought I had some kind of problem with my palette because I really couldn't ...
