'bump' on tooth?

Hi, I wonder if this is more of a 'tooth' question, than an orthodontic question, but I have noticed this since my lower right canine tooth has been rotated back to a normal position after years and years of being out of position. Basically, on the back of that tooth there is a hard lump. It is defi...

'Hooked' brackets

On my upper and lower canine teeth I have a brackets with hooks on (currently in radiance ceramics). When I was a kid and I had metal braces I remember having elastics on these hooks as part of my treatment to bring my lower jaw forward. A bit like this http://www.manor-orthodontics.co.uk/images/tre...

Worst: Losing any sort of ability to play the Cornet and still struggling to have any sort of consistency and top range 6 months later. Depressing.

Best: STRAIGHT TEETH and eventually, a 'normal' overbite.

Hi, I am a teacher. I have fixed ceramic braces, but nothing actually which is really affecting my speech, like a pendulum or anything like that. I have a very slight lisp, but nothing overly noticeable. It took literally a few hours to adjust to them, and i had them fitted after work so I had a who...

Update!!

Ok, I had my 3rd adjustment yesterday, and I have progressed onto a thicker wire on the top. Here is my picture 2 months and 3 weeks in..... Still a hefty overjet, and the ortho said I am making good progress :) http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_q6GtRIwgHuQ/TFhj8MyMJjI/AAAAAAAAACc/75OUmOcc-fY/s1600/braces+2...

Hi ninath1! My teeth moved really quick in the beginning. I saw movement within the first week! Now I am in the tweaking stage and it feels like they are moving so slow. Hope this helps! Yeh, mine moved really quickly in the first couple of weeks - the front ones anyway. They haven't changed much i...

1) How much are you paying for your braces? £3,300 - I paid in one lump sum. If I wanted to pay in installments it was more. 2) What is/isn't included in the above fee? (did you have to pay extra for a retainer, x-rays etc etc) Everything, unless I break the retainers an 'excessive' amount. I haven'...

I'm trying to picture how hard you have to chew, or brush, to dislodge a lig. I have clear ones on my clear brackets, and I don't think I'd even know if one was missing. I guess I should look at my teeth closer. :D Yeh, I didn't even realise I'd lost the first one till I noticed the wire was popped...

I keep losing ligs

I've had my ceramic braces for just over two months, and I keep losing the ligs on the bottom set of teeth, especially where I chew. The top teeth and front bottom teeth don't seem to be a problem, but none of the teeth at the bottom either side have got any ligs left on them!!! They seem to come of...

I use straws for coffee and tea (I drink a LOT of coffee at work) but not really for anything else. I have a stash at home, and a stash at work.

The only time I have had bad staining from the ceramics was after eating a curry, rather than drinking anything.

Going back a few years I have had both - metallic on the NHS as a kid and now ceramic as an adult. I definitely prefer my ceramic braces. I have not had much problem with staining (I use a straw for coffee and I'm careful with what I eat, but no more so than metallic), and tbh from what I remember o...

Yeh, I'd agree - a few kids at my school (I'm a teacher) have asked me if I am getting a fixed brace, thinking that my ceramic fixed brace is a retainer. They are fascinated when I show them it is stuck to my teeth!

My orthodontist told me my overjet was too big to correct with invisalign :(

As I play cornet/trumpet a lot I really wanted Invisalign rather than than fixed braces, but I was told it was fixed or nothing.

My overjet was 10mm before treatment started.

Your ortho sounds like my first ortho..... bad tempered NHS lady who used to really hurt my teeth (I'm sure she hurt more when you said 'ow'!). Needless to say, I didn't go back when my retainer broke and now I am in braces a second time... I'm now paying for private treatment and I have the lady wh...
