i would definitely try to get more opinions, defnitely don't want to go with an ortho you're uncomfortable with, try to get an ortho that is friendly, and explains what they're doing, and what they expect to accomplish when you're done with braces, i love my ortho, she's so friendly and recommended ...

i would definitely try drinking or swishing with water after drinking anything acidic. i'm addicted to pop, and will definitely drink and swish water after drinking just to get rid of acid. i've been advised by others who had braces to drink water after meals and any acidic drink to get rid of acid ...

i just got braces today, so can't help. but with my spacers i lost 7 lbs in 7 days due to not being able to eat anything but soft foods, soups, oatmeal, and soggy cereal. good luck to you!

hey, i would go with braces too, they're not so bad, and it's better than having more probs later. maybe go to another ortho to see if you can get out of the headgear, lucky i don't have to go with that. see what your reg dentist suggests, maybe they know a good ortho that can help. good luck!
