Hi everyone, I haven't posted in awhile and thought an update was in order. It's been almost three months since my surgery and things are coming along nicely. I had to get my screws & plates from my lower jaw out on Friday. I hadthe choice of putting put under for it or just getting freezing. I ...

I had my surgery almost 3 months ago now and I didn't use a zip and squeeze bag. I might have ordered them had I known they existed beforehand but I did fine without them. What I did use, when I was wired shut and afterwards when it was still difficult to open, was a syringe. THey gave it to me at t...

Exactly, my back teeth are just tipped enough that it makes it a little hard to chew, but I manage. The left side seems easier to chew on right now. I didn't really have any problems chewing before I got my braces and surgery, I did it knowing that in the future it would cause problems if I didn't. ...

I have to agree with Meryaten. Advil worked the best for me when I had my spacers in & to be honest, that was the worst of my getting braced. Those darn spacers made me feel like I was teething. I wanted to chew on anything, except your teeth are so sore you can't. Very frustrating. It does get ...

Hi there. I did find that braces made me tired too. Even after a year of having of having them, I find after I get them tightened that I get sleepy more easily. I'm thinking it could be one of two things: when you're teeth move lots it takes up a lot of energey, and second, because the teeth are ten...

Hi there, I know that people who move can change orthodontists pretty easily, so I'm sure there shouldn't be a problem with you changing your ortho with everything your going through. I think the previous post was correct in saying that they should be able to charge you for the work they've complete...

Hi there, I just had my surgery done about 8 weeks ago, upper and lower jaw. I did lose about 13 lbs total, but I'm overweight - so I could stand to lose it. I di havea body fat monitor and I did lose mostly body fat and not muscle. I could have gone back to the gym 6 weeks post op but I just starte...

Hi Kathleen, Congrats on the pregnancy! That's great news. You know, I think you'll find it nice that your kids will be close together like that. How far along are you? I'm actually thinking I might be pregnant too, but I'm not sure. I took a test on Thursday & it was negative but I'm more than ...

Hi Bracesgrrl, I was reading your posts & thought I'd drop a note and say hello. I was curious how your engagement/ wedding plans are coming along. I was married, fully braced, just this past August. My husband and I had known each other for over 15 years & lived together for 12. One day we ...

Hi Kathleen & Suzie, Kathleen, it does sound like your PT does exactly what I do at home - just longer andsans neck massage. (Maybe I can convince my hubby to commence on that treatment...) Luckily, I do not have work I need to return to either. After the company I was working for went belly up,...

Hi Kathleen, With the measurements you gave, I decided to check and I'm opening close to 30 mm now after 5 weeks. I guess that's means I'm on track. I know I could do be doing better if I did the exercises that the surgeon told me to do more. I think I just got content with being able to eat that I ...

Hi Kathleen, I just had upper and lower law surgery done as well, about 5 weeks ago now. I'm opening a bit slower than I thought I would. Has your orthodontist or surgeon said what kind of timeline your looking at in getting to a back-to-normal opening? I had my top wire changed on Thursday of last ...

Hey everyone! Well, you all have been busy chatting over the last day or so. I feel behind... Anyway, no, I don't have any kids yet. But, I'm giving it some serious thought. It's funny, when I was younger I always pictured myself with a family & lots of kids (like three, not lots I guess). Now, ...
