Re: Journey Of A Brace Newbie!

Wow, that is some fantastic progress there! Hopefully those bottom teeth will make similar progress with the power chain on! Your upper arch has really shifted fast and is looking great!

Hope the progress continues in the same speedy fashion as it has so far!

Re: Ouch; eating after install!

I have had my brackets now for 8 and a half months and i am comfortable eating just about anything, but i still have a few days of aggrovation after adjustments. I found that slowly you get used to what you can and cant eat straight after adjustments and i just make sure i have a couple of days of s...

Hi crazyasaboxoffrogs Firstly, congratulations on taking the plunge and welcome to the forum. Its a common misconception i think that people will ridicule you when you say you are getting braces. I got mine (metal brackets) 4 months before i was 25 and i have had them for about 6 months now and i ca...

I was never big on the whole flossing thing before i got braced. However since i have been braced and i actually did some reading and research into how i could do everything in my power to look after my teeth i am now flossing daily. Sometimes (quite a lot of the time infact!) in can be a huge pain,...

Hi Becky, and welcome! Good to see that the stories and advice on here has helped to ease the initial nerves for you! I know everybody says it and that sometimes its difficult to not get self conscious but in my experience my self consciousness was far worse than what anyone else had to say. In my h...

Glad to hear that it went really well! Your treatment sounds an awful lot like what my ortho had said to me about starting with uppers to straighten them and then putting lowers on after (although no mention of headgear for me). It is nice when your consultation goes well and the ortho explains thin...

Congratulations on taking the plunge! I have had my braces now for about 4 months and i found that the pain and soreness was the most painful the first time i had my braces fitted but since then i have gotten used to it. It normally takes a couple of days of avoiding chewing too much at first but so...

I was of a similar mindset to you before i got my braces. I was due to have them as a youngster (15) but i never got them due to changing dentists and a few other issues. Now i am 24 and i have decided to take the plunge, but it took me about 6 months to call and ask because i was apprehensive of wh...

Hi Chrystal, I am glad that the consultation wasnt a total nightmare, even if it wasnt exactly what you would have liked to have been told! I am somewhat suprised at the price quoted especially as you were told that the lower arch wouldnt be braced, seems rather expensive for something that they des...

Hi Chrystal, My situation was very similar to yours, as a youngster i was told i would need them and i remember being there like "aah no i dont want that in my mouth" and i never had them. Now im 24 and i think to myself that i was an idiot back then to not have them for free, so i took th...

I am from the south west. My whole treatment plan costs a total of £2050 which is for upper and lower metal braces including all the moulds and retainers. I was able to stagger my cost into 3 payments, one at the start, one in the middle and one at the end at no extra cost. Fortunately i did not req...

This list is brilliant, couldnt agree more with what people are saying! Dont pretend your interested about my treatment/reasons if you arent. If you dont care, dont ask just because you feel like you should! Do feel free to ask though if you are interested, i dont mind talking about my treatment and...

One week down!

Hi! I recently took the plunge and decided to have the work done to straighten out my teeth. 8 Days ago now i had my upper braces fitted and for the first few days it was uncomfortable to say the least! However now my teeth feel almost normal again, i remember that my ortho said we were starting on ...
