Does anyone know once all of the teeth are in the proper position do the braces come off right away and then retainers are used. Or do the teeth have to hold for some time in their new position. If so I wonder how long 2 months? 6 months? Interested to know Thanks

I ski as well and I don't wear any protection for my mouth. Maybe I should though I found with braces my mouth got really cold when I was going down the slopes and it was only mabe -2 !!

I had spacers put in my bottom teeth and kept going back every week and my teeth were still too tight I ended up having to have copper wire put between my teeth and that was there for about three months.

Has anyone had a top arch wire that has two brass colored hooks attached to the wire? They are trying to close my extraction gaps and pull my front teeth back, so they have hooked a spacer elastic around the back molar and tied that to some wire and then the wire to the funny hooks in the front arch...

Hi I went for my ortho appt. today and they replaced my top arch wire with a braided arch wire , then they tied off the front of them with other wire. Has anyone ever heard of a braided archwire and what its for? Thanks

Just wondering if others out there have to go for regular check ups with a periodontist? My ortho insists that all of his adult patients go every six months just to be on the safe side, that their gums are doing okay. I wasn't sure if other orthos did this or not. It adds a bit more cost on as well.
