I'm 57 and have had my braces on for a liitle over 9 months. In the beginning I asked myself "what was I thnking" just about every day. Now I only ask myself that every 2-3 weeks! It has gotten a lot better, and it will all be worth it.

I went straight back to work after getting my braces on and had no problems. Biting/chewing on the other hand was a problem. I just couldn't do it, my teeth felt numb and my bite was crazy. That improved pretty quickly, though. Good luck at your dinner party, hopefully there will be some soft foods.

The thought of it freaked me out, too, but it really didn't hurt much at all. Much less that I expected. The "bandages" that you have to keep on for a week or so (made out of some kind of plaster, maybe?) was the most annoying part to me, but not painful. I want to say they charged around ...

I'm 56 years old, went through the deep cleaning stuff, had a tissue graft on my bottom front gums last year due to gum recession. Now I've had my braces on for six months and it's going well. I think you should definitly get another opinion. Don't give up hope!

I feel like I'm eating way too much junk food, because it's easier to eat ice cream, pastries, crackers, etc. for snacks than salad and raw fruits and veggies. Pringles chips are really easy to eat, because they just kind of melt in your mouth. Not as good as regular chips, but not bad!

Congratulations on getting braced, Danielle 18! I think a lot of people had that moment of "what have I done, and how can I get these things off?' in the first couple of days. Don't worry, it will get better!

I do brush at work after lunch, but I'm the ony woman where I work, so I essentially have my own personal bathroom. I keep a tupperware box with brush, paste, disposable bathroom cups, etc. in the bathroom, so it's very easy for me. I can see where it would be kind of weird if you had co-workers in ...

Flossing was such a pain at first, it would take me 30 minutes. Now I can do it almost as fast as I used to do without braces, and it feels so good when I'm done!

Going for a few days in a row with no wax in my mouth. Yea!

It took at least six weeks or so before I could bite anything with my top teeth. They just felt numb. I just got my lower six bottom teeth braced this week, and it's the same thing, can't bite with my bottom teeth.

Worst: A tie between poking wires and always having to think about what I'm going to be able to eat (then having whatever it is get stuck everywhere)
Best: I'm one fifth of the way through my 24 months!

Yes, I love the silicone, too. Great stuff!
