I've had TMJ issues on my right side after surgery and it got really bad when I was wearing elastics. After taking the elastics out by recommendation of the surgeon, the pain is gone but the clicking and grinding is still there. I think things are slowly getting better. Also, I have been for TMJ phy...

I guess genio could be any change, not necessarily moving the chin forward. I've only ever heard of it being moved forward along with the jaw though. Each case is different.

It sounds like your case is borderline regarding the genioplasty based on what the surgeons said. My surgeon did recommend genioplasty along with Lefort I and BSSO, but I decided against genioplasty and I'm soooo glad I did. I felt my chin was already pointy and I didn't want that more pronounced. T...

I think it's important to be aware there's a chance you may not be happy with the cosmetic result of surgery. Then again, you could be very happy. I totally support people doing surgery for cosmetic reasons if they strongly dislike a feature about themselves. I had my surgery for functional reasons ...

I have to say, the first 48 hours were horrible from the little I remember. I am so thankful that I don't remember waking up at all and very little of the first two days which were in the hospital. The first week sucked. Be prepared that it will be tough and you will get through it. I would feel sor...

I've been having muscle spasms around my TMJ, stabbing ear pain, ear ringing, and clicking on one side. My surgeon had me stop the elastics. Eventually the stabbing pain stopped, but the clicks are still there. I am 4 months post op. He said to massage the area. Hope it goes away.

Are you using the ortho wax to cover up the areas that are rubbing? That's the only thing that helped me post op. Can you place it where the irritation is? The ulcers heal fast once the irritation stops.

OH my goodness, by 5 weeks I definitely didn't feel back to normal. Only after I was eating real food for a while did I start to feel normal. I am 3 months post op and am at 80% back to normal. I'm getting TMJ physio for the last 20% and can eat most things now although some meat is impossible to ch...

No problems breathing here. I was so doped up that even with a tube down my nose the breathing part didn't bother me even though I was soooo anxious about it. Thank god for morphine.

1. Which problem do you have (or had, if you're on the other side already). TMJ pain and degeneration, muscle pain, headaches, grinding, tooth pain. Class II malocclusion. 2. How much of your motivation to fix this problem came from a wish to improve facial aesthetics, and how much of it came from a...

Pretty much walking around with dirty teeth..yup. :)

How did your cleaning go? I have my first post op cleaning at the end of the month and will be 3 months post op as well. I don't know how it will feel, but I am not too worried about it. After being wired shut, there is some catch up to do.

I've been punched in the jaw at least once a day by my baby who's just at that grabby, punchy stage. It hurts like heck sometimes, so hopefully nothing will come of it. I do have something weird going on with the left side of my jaw and the midlines do match up anymore, but I don't think it has anyt...
