I had underbite surgery for aesthetic reasons as well and now approaching 4 weeks post-op. Pretty much back to normal minus some numbness at the peak of my new chin and a couple of spot patches :) I've noticed when ive been in shops people have been striking up random conversations with me more than...

Also going off chicagos post, the surgeon wouldn't allow the student to do the procedure if he wasn't at all confident they could do it. The students would have to jump through tons of hoops before actually get to the surgery stage.

16 days post op after having Genioplasty on my chin. The swelling has gone down, some numbness in the chin and tightness in the lower mouth, but the worst thing for me at the moment is a bad breakout of spots haha. I havent broke out this badly since i was back in school! Fingers crossed it'll subsi...

I'm 16 days post op after having Genioplasty (i believe this is the procedure you have described). Like Rodney has said it comes down to "is it worth it?". Will you regret not having it done later on in life? For me it was purely cosmetic reasons. Knowing i had a weak chin really knocked m...

Bleeding Worry

I'm post 11 days after genioplasty surgery and everything so far has been going brilliantly. Hardly any noticeable swelling, just stiff mixed with a little bit of numbness. But just this morning i sneezed for the first time since my surgery and started to bleed on one side of my mouth where the inci...

It was quick and painless. They walked me to a room for prep. Attached a couple heart monitor pads onto me and laid me down. Stuck an IV in (which i didnt look at lol) and at all times they were talking to me keeping me distracted. Next thing i know the Surgeon is saying you may feel a cold tickle r...

Brushing & Cleaning

Just had lower jaw surgery and for the life of me cant remember if my surgeon said if it was ok to use toothpaste to gently clean my teeth with. I've been given a specific type of mouthwash to use on a daily basis from the hospital but no toothpaste, which makes me believe the type of toothpaste isn...

Nov 3rd i would imagine would be a pre-assesment. Get your vitals checked etc to make sure you're healthy for surgery. Not sure about Oct 20th. That could be a consultation to go over some finer details. I'm into my 2nd day into having lower jaw surgery and although i stayed in over night i was pret...

Thanks for all your replies! I'm going to go ahead with the surgery but knowing others have suffered/suffering from numbness and are still pleased with the results is putting my mind at ease just that little bit more. It's gotten to the point where my profile appearance is constantly on my mind and ...
