Yessssss!!! I am at the 6 week mark and have had very noticeable changes to the upper front teeth very recently (in the last two weeks). The overlapping prominent incisor has pulled in and away from it's brother and there is a slight gap between them when previously they were crossing! Progress at l...

I love love love my teeth!!!!
I love love love my teeth!!!! They have in the blink of an eye suddenly moved!!!! The Nanny McPhee look has just about gone already!!!! It's mad, I have studied and stared at my teeth for 5 week since getting the braces and nothing doing. Then ohmygod I looked in the mirror today and noticed a gap i...

Yes I became super self concious, especially meeting people I haven't seen since before I got braced. Everyone notices them as they are big and metal and filling my face but probably only half actually mention them. I've noticed that its the genuinely closer friends who comment on them - some of whi...

You've had quite a time of it! You seem to be getting the big jobs done all together which must be something of a relief as only two visits means less fretting?? I'm not sure about your teeth "clashing." It's bound to feel different and just wrong for a while - I noticed straight away that...

Hi there! You're so lucky - a year on and the finishing post is in sight! Can't wait to get there myself! I'm also a fellow Brit, and am actually a very positive and optimistic person! I haven't noticed especially that people here have particularly manky teeth, I thought that you get good and bad ev...

Oh god the extractions!! Have you had any out yet? I honestly found the thought far, far worse than the reality. I thought the first extraction was the worst - I didn't know what to expect and then later when I looked at the gap left behind I did have a little cry but it was just the shock of it I t...

I'm 38 years young! I don't know what a nance wire is??? I'm not really up to speed on all the terminology - although I think I have a 014 wire?? I had to have the extractions done one at a time and then the brackets on and then the final stage of the wire fixed so it's all taken a while with me too...

Thanx Bekah! I hope that "HOLY COW" moment comes along soon, but youre right, I suppose I just have to trust that the mystical magical wire is doing its thing and that one day I will see a little change! Even a teeny one will be welcome! You've made me feel a bit more optimistic!

when did you notice your teeth were moving?
This thread has been done before but I can't find it! I've read that some peeps start to see changes within the first month and others (like myself) see nothing at all. I'm curious to know what experiences others have, and how much do you think age effects the speed of movement????

Hi angie I'm British too but have been really really fortunate to get an NHS orthodontist to do my brace, having patiently waited over 5 years! I'm just at the beginning of the process like yourself too, I have actually been braced for three weeks now. I didn't have spacers (thank god) but I did hav...

Well it's been just over the three week mark now and I'm a teeny bit worried. I thought I was going to be in pain and especially went and bought protein shakes in case I couldn't chew normal food. But I don't really have a problem - I just cut everything up tiny with a knife and fork and take hours ...

OOh it's weird! My wire's have been on three days now and my teeth feel all insecure! Half of me wants to wiggle them with my tongue and half of me is terrified and feeling ever so slightly sick by it! Weird Weird Weird!

Oh God! The molar bands sound painfull! I don't know how my ortho will get rings around the molars - there doesn't seem to be enough space in between!
Oh well, come what may, the little blighters will be going on tommorrow!
Feeling nervous

Meemoo - I'm sooo jealous! I wish my wires were on too! I want my teeth to start moving! I've got my appointment for the wires and molar tubes tommorrow. Meemoo, what exactly are the molar tubes and how do they get them on? I'm imagining they are like rings around the tooth but I can't figure how th...
