Hawley help
Hi all, I posted in the retainer forum as well, but it doesn't seem to get as much traffic. I dropped my retainer on the floor and it seems to be misaligned. My ortho is closed on weekends. Should I wear my retainer or not? If I wear it my tooth might shift because my hawley bow is pressing on my fr...

Hawley help!!
Hi everyone, so I have been debraced for about a month now and I dropped my hawley on the floor. It seems that I bent the wire and it's pressing against my front right incisor. My ortho is closed on the weekends so I'm not sure what I should do. If I leave the retainer out until Monday, my teeth mig...

December Debrace Club
Hello all! I am getting my braces off December 12th at 8:30 am! I am so excited! I'm getting upper and lower hawley retainers. I was supposed to have a lower permanent instead of a hawley but I'm afaid my molars will shift, so I asked for a lower hawley instead :) hopefully I get to choose a colour ...

Re: when do you get D-Day appointments
I got my d date on September 19th. Not that I got my braces off then, I just got to book the appointment. I get my braces of December 12th, so I was told just shy of 3 months prior.

Re: Feeling sorry for myself......
The shock is what got me when I first got everything installed (braces, bite turbos and quad helix) it really sucked because I had a hard time talking. I talk quite fast and having all of the stuff in my mouth made me have to talk slower. I'm not going to lie the first week sucked and I kept thinkin...

Re: Is 24 Months the "Average" Estimated Treatment Time?
I would say yes, the average estimated time is about 24 months (From what I've read). I was given an estimated time of 24 months, but I will have my braces off in about 2 months. So it all depends on the person. I had an overbite and mild to moderate crowding as well as a crossbite.

Re: Questions about getting braces
To have all of those answered, you should book a consultation with an ortho in Lancaster where you are attending university. I don't think that anyone here can answer your questions since the majority aren't orthodontists.
Good luck with your search for a new ortho.

Re: The end is near.
Hey! Congrats on being in the home stretch! I too am there as well. They have booked me one more regular appointment and I have my removal date set for Dec 12! I will be getting a removable hawley on top and a permanent on bottom. But I'm going to ask that they make me a bottom hawley as well. I'm a...

Re: Do teeth get filed down after debracing??
I had my teeth reshaped and I'm still in my braces, but my guess is that your ortho may like to wait until debanding.

Re: Home Stretch
Reshaping done! Went by so quick. The hand piece is annoying, and really high pitched. Only discomfort felt was a little bit of warmth from the sanding. I'm glad it's over, I was really nervous! Good news though. I have a deband date! I have one appointment in October and then I get my braces off in...

So I'm a week away from my reshaping appointment and I'm getting really nervous. If anyone has had their teeth reshaped, can you tell me about your experience because the more I think about it the more it freaks me out.

Re: Is it normal to have duck lips??
I remember when I first got my braces put on (and my bite turbos, and my quad helix expander) I had the hardest time getting used to all of my new hardware and thought to myself "it's going to look like I have botched collagen injections for 2 years!?", but after a few months I was used to...

Re: Bite turbos- one more time please?
Give it time. You will have a slight lisp, but once you're used to them it's not so bad. I had bite turbos for about 4 months. You'll be fine.
Give it a week and if you're still not satisfied, call your ortho

Re: Weird Taste in Mouth
For the first few weeks it tasted like I had just came from the dentist, every day!
It will go away once you've had them for a while.
