Temporary denture with implant

Hi, I'm (hopefully) coming to the end of my time in Damon braces. I will need an implant in a front tooth (lost it in a rollerskating incident when I was 18 - 47 now). I saw an implant specialist yesterday. I am going to wait until my braces are removed. I then have to have previous root canal filli...

Re: Final wire

Thanks for that. I've had a look & was surprised to see that it says 10 weeks, so I may get these things off sooner than I anticipated (my ortho keeps saying I've made good progress). :D

Final wire

I don't often contribute to the forum but I follow it all the time so thanks to all of those who do contribute. I've had my braces for 11months (Damon system - ceramics top & metal bottom). My teeth weren't bad (I needed room to replace a top front crown). Yesterday my ortho put the last wire in...

Re: for the 40 and older crowd

My ortho told me off for brushing too much! I've had my braces on 7 months now (just got elastics on Tues) & I'm getting less fussy about cleaning during the day. My ortho cleans/scales my teeth every time I have an adjustment & he says my teeth are staying cleaner because they are moving ap...

Gum levels

I'm in my late 40's and have had gum disease in the past. I've got a crown on one of my front teeth and the gum level is a lot lower on that tooth than my other surrounding teeth where the gums have receeded. Does anyone know if my ortho will do anything about the gum level? I can't remember if he's...

Stains on teeth

My teeth are really opening up after 3 months of braces. I've got a few stains that weren't noticeable before but are very obvious now. Does anyone know of a sytem of whitening I could use that would just lighten the stained areas until I get my braces off & can get the whole lot whitened?

I'm really depressed about my teeth at the moment as they look horrendous. I've got gaps opening up all over the place & a few of my teeth are stained. It didn't show when they were close together but now it looks awful. I'm guessing, like others have said, it has to get worse to get better but ...

My face has definitely changed shape nearly 3 months into wearing braces. It looks thinner & my cheekbones are more defined (which is nice) but with clear Damon braces at the top it looks like I've got a bit of a fish pout going on at the moment (sure that will go when they are removed). It's ha...

I'm coming up for 47 & I've never seen a hygenist & my dentist has never suggested it  My dentist usually cleans my teeth at my 6 monthly checkup but now I've got my braces I'm going to ask about a proper clean with the hygenist at my next checkup. I have however bought a waterpik (I t...

I drool at night as well & it's getting to the stage where I'm worried I'm drooling during the day when I'm not! Somehow it feels like my lips & around my mouth are wet but they aren't! It's weird. Still, as a more mature metal mouth it won't be that long before I'm drooling due to old age/d...

Doesn't it depend on which system being used? My boys had metal braces with bands & went every 4- 6 weeks. I've got Damon braces (clear upper brackets, metal lower brackets) & have to go every 8 weeks. I had my first adjustment on 29th July & I'm going again Sept 21st. I was a bit concer...

Hi musicluver. Well done on taking the plunge. Sounds like we've got a few things in common - I'm 47 at the end of this year & I'm also a teacher (turns out there's a few of us use this forum - see previous thread). As far as work is concerned don't worry too much. I got wired in June, a month b...

It's great to hear I'm not the only teacher with braces! I'm 2 months in now. I had mine fitted on a Thurs afternoon & then had to teach first thing Monday morning (I teach KS5 - 16-18 yr olds - & they had exams coming up). My speech was fine but like some of the other comments my mouth hurt...
