are essix retainers supposed to add pressure ?
my new retainers dont add any pressure to my teeth. they just sit on top of my teeth and let the gaps between my teeth open. where the teeth should be firmly together now there are small spaces. i can even floss without touching my teeth. i am losing patience. i want a new retainer. is my orthodonti...

much of this depends on how big the gaps were in the first place. If you had a 10mm gap the situation is a little different than a 3mm gap. If there is a gap I like to determine the cause of it so a solution can be figured out. Common causes are: occlusion (the bite on the front teeth might need a ...

question for drrick
is a gap smaller than 1 mm between front teeth acceptable after orthodontic work that was supposed to close those gaps?
if a patient brought that problem to your attention would you think he is being perfectionist or would you think he is making a valid complaint?

Can teeth really shift in only 30 minutes!? I'm just wondering.... because if that's the case then how do people with Invisalign get on? :? I hope someone will be along soon to offer advice for you. The gap between my front tooth opens in minutes. It's a small gap, a few millimeters wide, but it's ...

after braces half my bite is gone
The rear teeth don't touch each other anymore. There is a gap when I clench my teeth. Only the teeth around the canines touch. Front teeth don't touch either: bottom half of upper front teeth ended up in front of lower front teeth, like a rodent. But I am worried about the fact that my rear teeth do...

did my teeth shift between braces and retainers?
Minutes after the braces came off I noticed a small gap between my front teeth. the assistant who made the molds for my retainers did not seem to know what she was doing and by the time she made a good mold my teeth had been without braces for almost 30 minutes. That was last month. So far I've had ...

Re: between braces and retainers, how are teeth prevented fr
here's another of my questions, and i apologize in advance if I am being repetitive with this whole braces/retainers deal, but between the moment the orthodontist removes your braces and the moment he gives you your retainers (it doesn't happen the same day), are teeth supposed to be held together ...

I got my lower bonded retainer at my debracing. My upper Hawley was ready for me then too (I had impressions a week earlier and my dentist placed and adjusted my Hawley later that same day after he did an extraction and fitted me with a temp bridge). My clear retainers I received the day after my d...

I'm getting my retainer 3.5 hours after I get de-braced. If they shift in that time period, the retainer moves them back where they need to be (which is why people say their retainer feels tight if they don't wear it for a while thanks for your answer. I wonder what happens if the teeth shift too m...
