In my case when I clench my teeth my upper molars don't touch my lower molars There is a huge gap in between that was not there before I got braces.

Is that normal?

If you have a problem you should go to your ortho as soon as possible. They may have some kind of time limit on "free" fixes. They might make you pay again anyways, since you already have a retainer. But if you don't like the gaps showing up, pay for a new, better retainer if you have to....
