yea it just means that they keep you asleep. They use machines to keep you sedated then gradually wake you back up until you are breathing on your own. dont worry thats fine... i was sedated for 24 hours after my surgery. on the intensive care ward.... its just to ensure that your throat doesn't swell so much you can't breathe!

Thats really helpful thanks very much. About the protein powders the hospital gave me their version of the shakes, however i just really hate milkshakes haha. ive tried some fruit juices but they are sore on my tounge because its dried out from not being able to breathe through my nose properly. :( ...
