I just had three fillings a few weeks ago. (I can't brush and floss properly with these darned things on...) No problems that I know of, except that I had tooth pain for a few days, but I always have roving tooth pain so I don't know if it was fillings- or braces-related. So far everything seems nor...

Same thing happened to me...ortho said it was no big deal. Although he did accuse me of hitting the Halloween candy, which is ridiculous as it's a front bracket. What, do I chew like a squirrel???

Use the wax! It doesn't hurt anything and it makes the experience so much easier. At one point I was putting wax on six different spots to try and ease the friction. I have a badly angled back molar and the wire pokes into my cheek no matter how short they cut it (and they can't cut it very well bec...

I take mine off when eating and replace them afterward. Occasionally I forget and it's a couple hours until I get them back on, but I don't think it's a problem. My daughter chews gum and would take her elastics out for hours every day, but when she went to her next appointment the ortho was very im...

One of my front teeth was clicking the other night. I'd push on it with my tongue and it would click and shift a little. Very entertaining. The poor things are probably wondering what the heck is happening to them...42 years of stability and now this! ;)

I love the Orthosil for the front brackets, but in the back I use regular wax (I can buy it in the US at the drugstore) because the Orthosil just won't stick back there. Good luck!

This might help explain: this is the picture my ortho took of my teeth before I started (and he drew all over it). http://gritton.org/images/gargoyleteeth.jpg See the little tooth on the right hiding behind the protruberant front tooth? That little tooth is fully forward now and the canine next to i...

Only one of them closed, and that's because I had a front tooth behind the other teeth waiting to come forward. So the ortho used the coil spring and power chain to slide the canine over into the extraction gap and then pulled the tooth forward into the place where the canine used to be. Does that m...

His therapist says his mouth can't keep up with his brain so he speaks very quickly, and he has trouble with plosives (t and d) and th sounds. His dad says he's also noticed that he fakes his b's and p's because he has trouble getting his lips to close over his teeth. Not sure about that. Anyway, mo...

My two kids go to my orthodontist as well, and if I am back there when they're getting adjusted the doctor will tell me what he's doing and why and I understand. He just talks to me while he's working. However, when they're doing my mouth they never say anything unless I ask, and I can't ask because...

My son (eleven and also in braces) has always been a mouth breather and he has terribly inflamed gums. My ortho said his mouth breathing was probably a large part of his problem. As far as I know he has no reason to breathe through his mouth, no allergies or anything, he just does. He also has a rec...

Hooray for you! I got mine off as soon as my extraction gap closed but I'll probably have them again because I've got a gap on the other side now. But for now I'm blessedly spring-free :)

Eat a big sandwich, lol.. the deli kind with piled up meat and cheese and dressing. Not subway, think bigger and better. Ooh yeah! I can eat sandwiches OK now with minimal pain, but nothing gets stuck in your braces quite like bread does. so indulge while you can! Funny, it's Thanksgiving here (in ...

I too have never been unaware of them. Each time they start to become a wee bit more comfortable the ortho moves something and I start the process all over again. (This time it was elastics...which make me gag. Fun times ;) ) My main problem is I tend to rub my lips over them when I'm concentrating ...
