Signs of an infection?
The left side of my lower jaw feels a bit weird, as if the wiring has loosened a bit. I'm also worried about a possible infection but am unsure what the signs of infection are. Can someone help me out in listing what symptoms i may be experiencing if it was an infection? As far as i can tell, there ...

Retainers are making my teeth extremely loose?
First of all, i apologise if this is posted under the wrong topic! So, i just got my retainers today and after about 2hours i took them off to have my lunch, only to find that my teeth has gone very loose, as a matter of fact, my top-front teeth are actually wobbly. Should i be worried? If it's got...

Damaging your splint with hot food?
Just curious to know what the chances are of damaging my splint with hot food like soup, congee, broth, porridge etc. Most of my meals are best served hot but im not sure if its a better idea to let my food cool down a bit each time. My splint at the moment feels a bit wobbly, is this normal? im at ...

Re: 2 days post op - questions!
Congrats on getting to the other side! Things will only get better from here :). 1. I used ice packs for 3 days after surgery and eventually switched to heat. That's what the PA told me to do and so I did it. Swelling peaked at day 3-4 and went down afterwards. 2. I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks...

Re: 2 days post op - questions!
Lefort 1, BSSO, and Genio on 11/2010. 1. After about 2 to 3 days of the cold packs they really don't help. The best way to reduce swelling will be to sleep upright. Also, try to walk around the house and outside if you can. 2. 3 weeks 3. I believe that is the result of the anesthesia still in your ...

2 days post op - questions!
hi all, i've just had surgery 2 days ago and i've got some questions to ask. Mainly questions for those who have had surgery already. 1. How effective are the cold packs in reducing swelling? Are they more for pain instead? Should i stick with them for a week or more? Should i give warm packs a try ...

Re: Wired Jaw - some questions
This is a question for your surgeon. I'm not sure the anesthetist really knows all the gory details of your planned operation... I hope your surgeon would have mentioned to you if you were going to be banded shut for two months. Are you in the UK or EU by any chance? I ask because banding shut seem...

Recovery time?
Hi everyone, I finally have a surgery date which is on the 15th of Feb, unfortunately uni starts for 12 days later (about 2 weeks). I was just wondering how long it took for some of you to recover? By that i mean no swelling and in a condition suitable for studying again. If i have to miss more than...

Question about breathing and swelling
Hi all, I've got two things i wish to clarify, firstly, i know most people are wired shut and their nose is usually blocked/clogged post surgery (especially the first few days) so what was breathing like? i can imagine real difficulties with both our mouth and nose sealed off? Can you still get a su...
