Youch! That poor guy, as you put it, is one of the unlucky ones. That is an unusual amount of swelling! I wouldn't worry too much about the amount of swelling. When going into this surgery, especially double jaw, you just have to wrap your head around the idea that you won't look too hot for awhile....

FYI, constipation can be awful after surgery. With the opiate pain killers, general anesthesia, inactivity, and a liquid diet, you will probably need something to get things going. Don't wait too many days to try prune juice or a mild laxative. Save yourself some misery!

It would probably help to see a pic of you from the front to see the length of your face straight on. I understand why your surgeon isn't dictating the choice as they both look good from the side. Do you feel like your face is too long? If you do, then that might be the best choice for you.

Things most definitely get worse prior to surgery! It's all about getting things right for the new jaw placement. Don't you just love candid photos?
