I don't ever receive any compliments from my ortho whatsoever...not even a 'your teeth are doing well' lol. I guess I don't mind though, I'm used to his bedside manner (or lack thereof) now. As long as the job gets done in the end he doesn't have to say a thing to me!!

Are you going to need a frenectomy, or does the ortho think the gap will close by itself?

What's a frenectomy?

Even though I've only had my braces on for 7 months I already want permanent retainers if I have the choice. Even though I don't know too much about them the idea of not having to think about them is really apealing. Are they cemented on to the backs of your teeth? Are they difficult to clean at all...

I don't think any offence was caused by the term 'buck teeth'. I also had 'buck teeth' as a child - I think the term is just used flippantly but not to cause offence especially in this instance. On the stained lig front I also did an equally daft thing this weekend just 2 weeks after having my up-un...

Definitely get it fixed asap if you haven't already done so, the same thing happened to me this week and as soon as I realised I turned up at my ortho's at 8am the following morning and he fixed them (yep 2 managed to pop off at the same time) straightaway. If you don't get it fixed it could delay y...

Wow I agree that is cool info... the kink in my own wire was tiny in comparison...I didn't know that a more obvious square-shaped kink could be created like that...Oh how every day is a new learning experience!

Hi again, It's really a simple thing to do...all your ortho has to do is to put the bracket on the tooth that needs to be brought out slightly nearer to the gum than the others (it'll probably be much much less than a millimetre even) and the wire will naturally want to straighten itself out, pullin...

Both of those things can be done Lucyloop. I have the same problem with my bottom teeth - i have a couple of worn teeth and one was sloping and shorter than the next one so my ortho also put a kink in the wire to bring it up. I asked him if he would file them so they're all straight and the same len...

Hi,
Yes I have had 3 of my brackets repositioned in one adjustment and this was done to close up the gap that had appeared between my 2 front bottom teeth and one to try to move one of my top front teeth towards the centre as it was a v shaped gap. Hope this helps!

I agree with Lucyloop - rather than putting them on perfectly straight teeth for straightening-up reasons I think they put them on so that when the not-so-straight ones are moving around the ortho can adjust the straight ones to line them up with the newly straightened ones! If that made any sense a...
