Chris, my boyfriend said just today that everywhere he turns he finds my elastic bands in our house!

My elastics, currently, are for shifting my midline. I look very glam with it going right across the front!!

Wow Clo they are truly artistic! That's some technical stuff. I've just got the 'right across the front' configuration - it's really uncomfortable and embarrassing. http://img302.imageshack.us/img302/2733/teeth47060gx.png As you can see my midline is way off so I'm hoping this will be the answer... ...

Thanks Clo that's very helpful - I'm glad I'm not being compared to a dog after all!

I'm glad you say it's easily correctable - I think half the trouble is my lower arch is narrower than the top. I have an adjustment on Monday so I'll see if he will do anything interesting then...

Anyone heard of a scissor bite?

Hi all, My ortho told me at my last appt that I have a scissor bite after I mentioned that even with my teeth clenched I can feel the surface of 2 pre molars with my tongue on my right hand side. I've never heard of this and he didn't elaborate - I don't know whether this means I've got to put up wi...

Yes mine catch on the brackets sometimes and have also snapped and broken whilst eating a couple of times (ouch!!). I think it's to be expected really as they are just elastic bands and are surrounded by lots of metal and are being stretched all day and pulled around when eating. It's probably just ...

Me too - I'll happily help out with any proofreading if I can.

I think it's a great idea - will be helpful for newbies and all of us when we have painful adjustments!

Keep us posted on the idea Lynn...

OMG yes - I'm really not sure what actually is my true bite and what's not at the moment because what's comfy one minute isn't the next! Also, one gap which I think is finally closing up seems more closed when I first wake up then seems wider as the day goes on! Could be my imagination but I definit...

Oh my you poor thing - I could be completely cheesed off if I were in your shoes too. That seems awful that he forgot to phone you - I think you should ention that when you see hm next as he could have potentially delayed your treatment even more. Hopefully your molars have not moved enough to be a ...

The most revulting thing about elastics I find is the way they get everywhere when you take them off. I keep finding the odd one here and there in my house and it's even more gross when it's the stained ones you find about a week after you wore it!!

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww

I'm finding just regular whitening toothpaste very effective. I've only just started using it with braces (I've had them on over a year and was too scared of using it in case of ill effects) and that was after I read kk's point that they don't whiten but remove stains. I found it got rid of loads of...

I have 'orange' elastics (not in colour - I think it just describes the strength of them) on my left side only at the moment from top canine to lower back molar. I don't find they bother me at all - only the first night where jaw-ache woke me up at 3am. However today I noticed my left jaw joint area...

More often than not I feel a bit embrrassed. For example I started salsa lessons 6 weeks ago and a young lad there also has braces. As soon as it was my turn to dance with him and we realised each other had braces there was this awkward embarassed moment but I don't know why! Now however neither of ...
