Re: Pain during adjustment
Been in braces 2 years now. Every single adjustment had been painful. Some more than others. Now I just know to expect some pain and take Ibuprofin ahead of time. Sore for the next 2-3 days. Then everything is fine. Until the next adjustment. When you expect it ...it doesn't seem as bad. But if it c...

Re: Cleaning with Wires in.....
I have been getting my teeth cleaned every 3 months. No wires taken out. They also use the "water and something" jet. Sprays everything. Really feels funny. But it really works at cleaning my teeth and my braces.

Re: Braces and a mouth full of crowns
I have 5 crowns and had a bridge Have also had braces for 2 years. Not had any issues. Had the bridge changed...the center part removed and the other two ends kept. Now there is no space...the teeth have come together nicely. The Ortho sees the xrays and know about the crowns. so I don't see there b...

Re: How does rotating the teeth really work?
Not sure how it works, but it does for me. Had one bottom tooth to be rotated and it now is. It wasn't quite in the correct place but moving forward with a new bracket and hooking into the main brace wires got it in place. I am 2 years into treatment and have learned to trust the experts. There is n...

Re: First adjustment - what can I expect?
Adjustments can vary in discomfort. My first one was hard. Taking Ibuprofin beforehand did help. Then eating softer foods. Seems that is typically the way it works with adjustments. The first couple of days after one are always a "pain". But the discomfort does go away.

Re: New power chain and wires - OW!
So sorry to hear about pain. It is pretty normal. Especially with power chains. Ouch.
Soft food for me too the next few days. I stocked up on yogurt. Yum.

Re: another adjustment
TPA bar is a transpalatial something or other. It is a wire that goes across the roof of the mouth. It is a pain to eat with it. Food is always getting stuck. And I did get it out. Yippee!! may get it put back in at a later date. Projected brace time is 2 and 1/2 years. But all is approximate. I hav...

Re: Should you try to wean yourself off of the wax?
I'll be using wax every time I feel the need. Why be in pain at all when a little wax will help. I'm at the end of year two and have wax in my mouth right now. Why do you feel the need to wean off it? You won't be using it for life and it is not harmful.

another adjustment
Wow, it's been almost two years. Have an adjustment tomorrow. Hoping to get my tpa bar removed. It has shifted enough that I will need to get some brackets taken off in order to remove it. Yuck. Getting ready for sore mouth and may even resort to pain pills. Fun, fun, fun. I'll be glad when this is ...

Re: Help (Swollen gum from premolar gap closure)
I have the same issue. Had a bridge removed to move my back teeth in place and there is a swelling of my gums between the back two molars now. Curious to see what others say..
