I had pork. It was delicious. If you're a carnivore, I'd definitely say to go for the biggest, thickest, juiciest piece of meat you can get. You'll be thinking about it for the next three months. I'd also recommend drinking A LOT of water. It'll thin out your blood so that if you do end up puking it...

I don't know if this will apply to you, but I definitely had a lot of thought about aesthetics before I had my surgery. I'm Korean, so I had a lot of questions regarding the beauty standards that fall with an [white] American doctor and a Korean doctor. The biggest difference I saw with the procedur...

Crooked Smile

I'm almost 2 months post-op, and my smile is still very crooked. I was first told that it was because I wasn't exercising my muscles and also due to the numbness of nerves. But it's my right side that doesn't pull up as far, and that side has NO numbness at all. Is this permanent??? Has anyone had t...

I'm a little over 6 weeks now, and I'm still pretty swollen. Some woman asked me why my neck was swollen at the hospital yesterday, and I was like, "Uhhh, my neck? What about my face??" With the whole acne thing, I know people have said this before but you just have to let it run its cours...

For those of you who have successfully transitioned into the chewing phase, how did you get there? I'm supposed to be chewing on foods like eggs and tofu, but I just end up mashing with my tongue or swallowing them whole. And when I do try, all the food gets stuck in this crevice between my cheek an...

I got my stitches removed yesterday, and it was rather painful. I read how some people thought that they tickled or didn't feel anything at all, but I could definitely feel the strings coming out of my gums and some pinching at times, too. With that over, I was told that I still have another 21 days...

Hi, everyone, I'm now officially 2 weeks post-op! Glad to hear that everyone else is doing well in their respective stages. I'm pretty sure that I'm hooking my bands to my surgical screws, but it doesn't gross me out as much as it did in the beginning. I'm getting my stitches removed on Friday! Real...

Cavities Post-Op?

Has anyone ever discovered that they got cavities from not being able to brush for the first two weeks post-op? My back molars on the right side are really sore, but I can't decide if it's from my bite splint or a newly formed cavity. I'm slightly worried as I don't know if I have enough energy to g...

I was really worried about the bite splint, too. I went in for my 10 day check up yesterday, and the super industrial rubber bands I had in my mouth were removed and replaced with more lax rubber bands. I can open my mouth now, though the doctor said that chewing is still a no-go, I can now eat stuf...

I went to the doctor today for a checkup and I was REALLY horrified to discovered that the surgical hooks are implanted in my gums???? WTH, is this normal? I kinda flipped out, which was insane considering that my bite splint was still in place. I'm really grossed out, and I couldn't practice puttin...

When I had my surgery, the hospital told me not to drink alcohol or smoke for 2 weeks prior. They also said that drinking and smoking can resume 3 months post-op.

Wow, I can't get over how much difference a single day makes. Last night, I had so much trouble sleeping that I almost started crying, until I remembered that crying prevents breathing. But after a few naps in the morning, I woke up and found my throat nearly clear of phlegm and discomfort. Througho...

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I wasn't able to sleep very well last night and spent a lot of time coughing up phlegm. (Josh's mom, I would recommend that when Josh starts to cough up phlegm, to rub his back with a good amount of pressure, as that felt very soothing to me.) After a short na...

One thing that I've been requesting a lot lately is:

- I'd like a pain killer.

Also,
-This soup is too thick. (Replace soup with whatever liquid.)
