Re: My story, initial situation, with pics.

I agree! Would love an update! I still have my braces on.. it's been over 2 years and over a month since the surgery. The surgeon thought it was too soon for the surgery when she performed it, but they went ahead anyway. If I had waited it probably would have been better, but I'm happy. I still have...

Re: My story, initial situation, with pics.

Hi! Just thought I'd drop by to see how youy're going and where you're at. It's been a while since I checked your updates! How frustrating that its moving slowly for you. Must make it hard. Things with me are ok.. Its been almost 6 months since the surgery and I still have some nerve issues. Nothing...

That's exciting news! Another good reason for the surgery after Christmas is you don't want to miss out on eating a yummy christmas dinner. I can't wait to have a good meal and eat something solid. I'm going nuts on this liquid diet! I'm reading about others having had the surgery and eating mushy f...

Hi! Yes, 3 weeks today in fact! Its got to be a good thing when you don't even realise it's been 3 weeks, right?! I've been out and about for a while, although still avoiding talking to people due to having the brackets/braces on. I was really spoilt with the linguals. Energy is back to what it was,...

My surgery was 2 weeks ago. I find I can easily walk, but wouldn't run. I'm still quite swollen so the circulation is felt in my jaw area. I think you'll be fine if you can bus and walk everywhere. Not sure about bike riding. But I was out walking around day 6. When I say walking, I push my toddler ...

It was a week ago today, and the difference is amazing. I imagine within the week I'll be back out shopping and taking my little girl to the park again. Yes, the first week is the definite peak of swelling and bruising. Energy levels aren't yet back to my normal, but they are good enough to work fro...

So sorry to hear you're suffering like that. I had mine on 14th (Tuesday) and am doing well now. The thing to keep in mind is that each day is another day and each hour is another hour. Its a very hard thing to go through. Count down the days and hours because each one matters. Its another ste...

I didn’t want to take over your thread but if it helps you I’m happy to give you an update :D My update: The swelling is terrible. I still have an ice pack around my head for the swelling (hoping to minimise it). The bruising has mostly come up in the last 12 hours. The worst is the horrid taste in ...

Each hour is better than the last. It's not so much painful as it is uncomfortable, lying on a bed u...

That's very exciting news!! yay for you!!! I have my surgery tomorrow (scary) But wanted to update you re the linguals thing. I had to have 8 brackets put on as my surgeon wasn't happy. Apparently leaving the linguals on means plastic button things getting attached to your teeth as hooks, which some...

Hi! Just thought I would post an update. I have my surgery tomorrow so pretty nervous. I went to the surgeon the other day and they were all like "where are your braces?!" so today I went to the ortho and had brackets put on the front (8 in total). They stay until I no longer need the elas...

Hi, I can't speak for everyone, and each person is different. I have linguals and am scheduled for surgery on 14 September. Prior to getting braces I was told I would need to have lower ceramic traditional braces on just prior to the surgery. I asked about this at my last appointment, bearing in min...

I'm having my lower jaw moved forward.. I was at my ortho last week having the xrays and moulds, and at the end of the appointment I asked about getting my lower braces on the outside as that was the original 'plan'. He told me they usually say that in the beginning, but he looked at my teeth and sa...
