Re: Incisor and premolar extractions on lower jaw
I am surprised my orthodontist didn't forsee this too! The annoying thing is that I had been to an other orthodontist before who suggested exactly the same treatment-which I didn't like at the time as I thought it would be strange having three incisors and I had postponed treatment by a year. On thi...

Incisor and premolar extractions on lower jaw
I had my third adjustment last week and my ortho informed me that I need to have another tooth extracted. I was quite shocked as I've had an incisor extracted and now I need to have a premolar extracted. The space created by the extraction of the incisor has been taken up and I still have crowding o...

Re: for the 40 and older crowd
Hi Grillz! I'm into my fifth month with braces-I don't eat anything at work. I have breakfast at home and then eat after work. At work I only drink water. It was hard at first but now I got used to it. It has saved me a lot of unneccessary snacking. When I eat out, I give my teeth a quick brush as s...

Re: Had my first adjustment-on some teeth it hurt.
I had my first adjustment three weeks ago. Yes! It did feel as if the ortho was ripping off my teeth, and putting the wire in place was even worse...luckily he was very quick about it. But it was painful afterwards too...the end of the wire felt really coarse and it scratched the inside of my cheek,...

Re: More to a face than teeth?
Hi serious thinker! Hope your consultation went well! I think that your thoughts are perfectly natural...I went through the same thoughts myself until finally after years of thinking about getting my teeth fixed I finally realised it was about time I decided. However because I was concerned about wh...

Not everyone is annoyed at not having straight teeth....and some people may think it's not worth to go through with braces at an older age. Others may think it's vain to spend so much money if the need for braces is only cosmetic. Some people are just happy and confident as they are.....I don't see ...

Re: Where is everyone from?
I'm form Malta. Apart from kids, I've seen a couple of twenty somethings.....haven't seen anyone my age in braces yet.....but I do see many people my age with crooked teeth....and that makes me feel good about my braces!

Re: Does your Orthodontist have good teeth?
My orthodontist doesn't have straight teeth...during my first visit when I asked if I was too old for braces, he told me he was thinking of getting braces himself........and he's about my age. Not having straight teeth doesn't mean he isn't good (it took me over 4 months to get an appointment for a ...

Re: Does anybody just have one arch braced?
Hi seriousthinker! I went to the orthodontist with my mind set I wanted to get the lower teeth only fixed, as compared to the lower teeth, my upper teeth look decent.......light years from perfect though, but they never bothered me. I was shy of having to wear braces on my uppers. So the ortho accep...

Re: Eating in public
I had an invitation for a dinner party on the day I got braced....So the first time I ate was in front of people and it really felt uncomfortable.....I hardly ate anything and everyone was asking questions and forcing me to try other wise easy foods such as salads but the lettuce was wrapping itself...

Re: when did you first see movement?
I've had a brace on my lower teeth for 39 days now....and I've had very visible movement! One of my canine teeth has visibly moved a little forward, the gap from my extraced tooth has decreased considerably and my overlapping, leaning incisors are a bit straighter.... I started noticing movement dur...
