Re: Upper jaw surgery - through nose??

Don't know why they are doing that.

I had double jaw surgery and the incisions were made within my mouth and above my upper teeth.

I have no visible scars on the outside.

Re: Just Had Minor Jaw Surgery Yesterday

Sorry for the late reply.

I was glad to remove the titanium because they were causing some discomfort above my upper teeth and under my upper lips.

The surgery was not very invasive and I didn't feel too bad when I woke up.

I was presented with the same option.

I consulted a couple of surgeons and they all said either one or two jaws but the best would be 2 jaws because my upper jaw was underdeveloped as they say.

So I did two jaws instead of one!

The others all said I look very different and younger than before. Mostly positive.

Post-Surgery: Ortho expects me to open wider in just 2 weeks

I am 7 weeks post op. I had a double jaw surgery and my teeth were wired shut for 5 weeks +. 2 weeks after I was debanded, I went to visit my ortho and he told me he was disappointed that I still cannot open wide enough. I can make about 1.5 of the width of my index finger between my teeth. 2 weeks ...

I've got a bit of numbness on my chin but it does not affect me a lot. The area that affects me the most is the area above my upper lip. It makes it difficult for me to smile and it generally feels "rubbery" in that area when I speak. What's worse, my upper lip seems to be making odd shape...

I forgot to add that I also had a gummy smile and a long face.

All of the issues I mentioned are now gone. My face is a bit shorter now because my upper jaw was sliced and moved up.

I have no plates on my lower jaw. My surgeon did a surgery technique with the word "vertical" in it. I am not sure what it is called exactly. What I do know is he cut a portion of my lower jaw off from the back of the lower jaw bone, near the joint and behind the nerves. The remaining bone...

Bumps on Jaw Bone after Jaw Surgery

http://www.vincejawsurgery.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/vince-post-surgery-42-right-bump1.jpg I have weird looking bumps on the sides at the moment. They should be bumps on my jaw bone. My surgeon told me this is normal because he "pasted" my jaw bone on top of the remaining bone at the...

I saw my ortho a few days before my jaw surgery because he installed some surgical hooks on my braces.

I didn't need to see him until 2 weeks after my wires were removed. That's like 7 weeks after my jaw surgery.

How long before you can open your mouth 100% after debanding

I had my wires debanded last Thursday, 4 days ago, after having my teeth wired shut for 5 weeks +. I can't open my mouth very wide at the moment. I can only make less than an inch of space in between my teeth right now. How long did it take for you to regain the full motion of your jaws after deband...
