Re: one side moving faster than the other
That happened to me with my gaps. One side was closing faster than the other. My ortho then asked me which side I chewed on. It seems like the more active the side the faster it moves. I'm not sure how effective it was but I switched my chewing side to the one that moved more slowly. Could have been...

Re: Can Hawley retainers close small gaps?
Most welcomed drgnchsr36! I had to have my Hawleys readjusted cause they became really really loose. Like they would fall out even if i wipe my face -_- My ortho is confident that they will be able to close the gaps once they have been readjusted though. Shall keep you guys updated!

Re: Can Hawley retainers close small gaps?
Thanks for the reply illay. Seems like my two front teeth are starting to move forward. Received my Hawleys yesterday and she had to make a few adjustments to get them to fit. So i'm gonna have to wear them 24/7 for a month until the gap closes. Fingers crossed!

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Do you guys thread the floss at the gumline with the Super floss? What i used to do was to thread the super floss underneath arch wire (going in between the arch wire and the teeth) and then I flossed normally. There's normally ample space in between your archwire and your teeth to thread the stiff ...

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
I found burgers particularly difficult to eat.... cause the bread kept getting stuck on the front wires and brackets.

Re: Are retainer check ups usually free of charge?
I guess this may depend and vary from ortho to ortho. There's a statement in my contract saying that I have two free post treatment followups. I would definitely call and check with my ortho if it's not stated in my contract. Hope this helps!

Can Hawley retainers close small gaps?
I had my braces removed on Tuesday and upper/lower permanent retainers bonded to 6 teeth (both upper and lower jaw) before the removal. Impressions for Hawleys were then taken. My ortho told me I'll have to wait a week before I can collect my Hawleys which makes the collection date next Tuesday. I n...

When you do start eating normally again, you may want to carry some dental toothpicks in your bag

Re: Ouch! - extractions...
starfish88 does have a point about the dry sockets so it may not work for everyone. What i did was placed the straw as far back as i could and basically just let the liquid flow down.. sounds miserable now that i think about it. Maybe i was just lucky to not get dry sockets

Re: Ouch! - extractions...
Congrats on starting the journey of being braced! Try taking liquid via a straw and avoid rinsing for the first 24 hours. Extraction and spacers were the worst part of the bracing for me. Braces were a breeze compared to those two =D

Re: Tobilei's Train Tracks.
Congrats on getting started! I was the same when I first got my braces on. I was on a soft food diet for about a month or two. I lost 5kg within the first month. After that I was eating practically everything under the sun (albeit having to cut them into smaller pieces so I don't dislodge my bracket...

Re: Embarking on a new journey with braces
Hi Tobilei! It's really worth keeping them on. I kinda miss them to be honest :P The permanent retainers have not bothered me at all. It was a lil' icky the first few minutes after they were bonded cause I could taste the cement but it was all good after that. Had a very tiny lisp for a few hours bu...

Re: Embarking on a new journey with braces [Finally grill fr
Can't believe that I've been in braces for 2 years 1 month and 5 days! Time just swooped by and honestly I really miss my braces. Happy with the new smile though :D I got both upper and lower permanent retainers bonded on 6 of both upper and lower teeth on the day that I got my braces off. I'll be g...
