Re: Experiences- Those who switched from ceramic to metal
Hi, I have ceramic top and metal bottoms. Both cause ulcers and both stick out. I had 4 extractions and my teeth were flared out and needed to be pulled in and also to close the gaps. Ulcers may still occur when your teeth move and hit a new spot that hasn't toughened up yet. Stay with it, it does g...

Re: Wire out of channel... or, The Little Ligature That Coul
They should have used a wire tie for teeth that will pull the archwire so much, rather than ligatures. My ortho used that on some tilted teeth until they are aligned enough to used normal ligatures.

Re: Elastics Question....
Elastics work really quickly so it is good that you are wearing get them as much as you can. I am on my last stages to fix my slightly off midline and the orthodontist said about 5 visits on elastics. He is really good and has been spot on every step of the way. My midline was aligned by day 3 I kid...

Re: I just got Braces- Questions!!
Salt water rinses are the best for ulcers in your mouth, it heals them really quickly. As teeth move sometimes you get new ulcers but I find it was the worst when I first got braces and once healed, the flesh gets used to it. I also got new ulcers when the ortho put in new wires with the hooks, so i...

Re: Strange Arch wire?
I had my adjustment 2 days ago and got the same wire on top that you are describing! Looks so strange against my ceramic upper braces :( like bull horns. They didn't do the elastics, just said that it is for preparing to close the extraction gaps (which I am VERY keen to close btw, so I guess I have...

There is a replaceable tip one from Oral B with a long handle and I love it for doing back teeth. I only have that at home though, my dental kit that I carry around has those small ones. I go through each space between my teeth and wire before and after a brush and amazing what you dislodge even aft...

Do you drink black coffee or with milk? I have ceramic uppers and they have not stained at all, I drink coffee with milk. Even though I have read that black coffee will stain, I have yet to prove it. Even so, the brackets do not stain at all, only the clear ligatures. You won't have to drink coffee ...

Should I go in for a loose powerchain? Next adjustment 1 Dec
Hi everyone, I have part powerchains (donno if you can still call them that) to close my extraction gaps for premolars top and bottom. They are wire ones that the ortho twist up to tighten across the 2 teeth only, on top of the arch wire itself. One of the top twisted wire is a little loose and I th...

I think just be brave and brush, then you will spend 30s to brush rather than the rest of the day worrying about whether your teeth is clean. Water is essential to cleaning and using the proxy brush is really good. Most people see me brush and say they should be doing that too. Also, use a disclosin...

I hardly opened my mouth when talking because I was so self-conscious of the crooked bottom wire, it does look messy. My top teeth midline is off but wire is still in one line but there were other problems like extraction gaps for me. One month since braces and my first adjustment is tomorrow! My bo...

I took the plunge at 33 when my good friend mentioned he would like to get them. It just got me thinking about how much I wanted my teeth to look good and it prompted me into action. So glad I did it, first week was hard but now it is all ok. Rather endure 22 months to have lifelong results than res...
