Re: Question about end of treatment... Settlement phase
I was wearing elastics right up until the day I got my braces off, so I didn't have a settlement phase!

Re: Reluctantly leaning toward braces at 25
Hi Porge! I'm an Aussie too so thought I'd say hi! I got my braces when I was 25 too. I'm now 26 and got them off 2 weeks ago. All I can say is go for it! It's so worth it! And having braces is no biggie, after a couple of months you just don't notice them anymore! Barely anyone noticed that I got t...

Re: BRACES OFF :D But retainer driving me MAD. Help?
Hey Shortie! I just got my removable retainer 3 days also. I'm the same as you with bonded ones and my removable for night. I agree it is so uncomfortable and it feels really weird trying to sleep with it because my teeth don't sit together like they used to. I don't put mine in until I go to bed th...

Re: I know this has been said a million times before, but...
I know this feeling too well! I got my braces off on Friday and when I went to work yesterday literally not one person noticed! The only person who asked me to smile already knew I was getting them off! It was so disappointing! Oh well, like you say it just goes to show that people really don't pay ...

If its not hurting you, waiting until Monday won't set back your braces time. It's only 2 days. Don't stress too much, orthos know that accidents happen

Re: Kristy's Story!!
Hey guys! I'm so sorry I've been so slack with updating! A few weeks after my surgery I had a run in with a window and made a mess of my wrist which led to an ambulance to the Royal Melbourne and plastic surgery a week later to mend tendons and nerves. I was then in plaster and a brace until just a ...

Re: Jaw surgery & hospital costs in Melbourne, Australia
Hey guys! I thought I might weigh in on this as I'm a Melbournian and had lower jaw surgery and my wisdom teeth (3) removed September 26th last year. My costs were: Surgeon fees: jaw ($4000) + teeth ($500) = $4500 Anaethetist: $1050 Excess for hospital admission: $250 I was able to claim back $1331 ...

Re: Anyone here had a bad experience/result with jaw surgery
I'm an Aussie, but have nothing but good things to say about my jaw surgeon & surgery. If the surgery turned out wrong my surgeon would have re-operated free of charge to get the desired result, so legal action would never be necessary.

Re: Kristy's Story!!
So I'm now more than 3 weeks post surgery. It all went really well and I'm almost eating normally again. I have just not quite conquered steak or bread. I'm very happy with the results, mostly because I look no different! I saw my ortho 1 week post op and to say he's happy with the results is an und...

Re: PLEASE advise - I'm worried about my teeth since braces.
Bananabongo I feel your pain! When I first saw my ortho it was a straight forward case. However after a year in braces I developed an overbite (about 5mm I think) . So the opposite to you really. I was then told by my ortho that I needed jaw surgery to fix it. It was devastating as I'm saving for a ...

I only got mandibular osteotomy (bottom jaw forward) so I think my recovery is straight forward compared to something more involved!
And PS I'm 26!

Re: September 2011 Buddies!!!!
Marian, I haven't got an icy cold chin. I can just imagine what you must look like grasping your chin! I'll be interested to hear what your surgeon says about it when you see him. What a strange sensation! My bottom 4 front teeth though do constantly feel very sensitive. Like I've taken a huge bite ...

Re: September 2011 Buddies!!!!
Hi guys! I feel like I haven't updated in forever! So today I am 15 days post-op and today was my 2nd day back at work. I see around 30 patients per day and I have to say that by the end of yesterday and again today my jaws were aching from talking and smiling all day, especially as I'm working agai...
