Re: I'm 51, husband thinks I'm too old for braces.

You go girl!!......My slogan is "straight teeth by 60" I know it seems ridiculous and vain to some of my family and friends. I made sure my two sons had braces so they would have a beautiful smile, and now (after getting them through college: $$) it's my turn. My husband just shrugs, so I...

Re: Getting braces off for my daughter's wedding

How funny that we're all in Mass! Well, got my brackets and a new heavier wire put on earlier this week. Everyone at the ortho's office wanted to see photos but I didn't have any! The re-bracketing was more uncomfortable than I remember the first time being....the mouth spreader that holds your mout...

Re: Getting braces off for my daughter's wedding

Armadillo- That's great about the preview of seeing how much your teeth have improved in the past year! It must be a joy to be able to smile without having a bumper guard inside your mouth! I hope the wedding is a LOT of fun and Irene doen't put a damper on it. Thanks! The wedding was fantastic, al...

Re: Getting braces off for my daughter's wedding

Hello armadillo! I can appreciate your reasoning! My son is getting married (fancy, formal wedding)in two weeks and I am three months into braces (ceramic top/metal lowers), and these braces are on for the long haul. I am also doing a reading at the church and if the wording of the old testament te...

Re: Getting braces off for my daughter's wedding

Are you saying that you're having all of your braces entirely removed just for this wedding? Are you concerned about the appearance of your teeth for photos and stuff? Is it really worth the trouble of removal and reinstallation? Doesn't seem like it would be for me! But I would like the chance to ...

Getting braces off for my daughter's wedding

Hi all, I'm a year in, and my daughter's wedding is this weekend. My braces are coming off tomorrow, temporarily....they'll be going back on in about a week and a half. Anyone else have this experience? How is having them put back on? I'm hoping it's not as painful as the first time! It's possible t...

Re: Brushing at work?

I brush daily at work and people are used to seeing me with my layout -- paper towel on the counter, my toothbrush and toothpaste, and a paper cup.... Lots of others brush at work, too, and not just those with braces. Some of them don't rinse the sink out afterwards, which I think is pretty gross, w...

Re: 50th birthday present?

Good luck to my fellow 50-somethings! I'm 58 & 8 months in. Still have some real sore teeth when I get new wires, and my teeth are always somewhat tender. After all, they've been in their current position for 50+ years, so it's to be expected.

57+

...and another older patient here. I'm 57 (for a few more months!). I had mine put on in August. I still find chewing a lot of things to be painful, but it's been much better this month than last. I sometimes forget that I have them when talking (I thought that day would never come). But I must say,...

Given that I've seen NO movement, 9 weeks in, it sounds like you're doing great!

Braces at 57....

Hi, revontuli, so good to hear there's someone close to my age going through the same thing as me....I'm new to this forum (as of today), 57, and got my braces in August. It's been an uncomfortable and sometimes painful couple of months, but I figure the 18 months will pass with or without braces, s...
