I have the exact same thing. My dentist said he has to put braces on my teeth and use rubber bands that slide your jaw to the center, i had them for a while but took them out because it pushed my jaw forward a lot. However, it's only temporary until you have your surgery.

How come you have to have braces for so long? Are your teeth crooked as well? 3 years seems like a lot of prep for the surgery

I'm curious, Do people get their braces done by the person who is suppost to do their jaw surgery? Or do you need a separate dentist for that in the USA?
