Re: Missing Teeth & Invisalign?
PS -- my implants were done post-braces. I went without teeth for the three hours between implants, and getting artificial crowns. Sorry, can't quite answer your specific question.

Re: Missing Teeth & Invisalign?
Ahhhh Brooke I am so right with you!! I, too, have missing lateral incisors that I had as baby teeth but never grew in as an adult. I now have implants (sometimes wish I had gone the space closure route but didn't want to get teeth pulled to make everything line up). Brooke -- very important -- too ...

Congratulations on your implants!! I just got mine this january...
Meh, I think your stand-in lats look great!! Yeah you'll get over people looking at your teeth... even with my temporary crowns I smile a lot more than I did with mah missing-lateral gaps

Re: Implant Cost
I had two mini implants for $450/each, totaling $900 for the implant.
I believe the temporary crowns were around $700 total, though I would have to check. Now to get permanent crowns it will be $3000 for two.
Total, two mini implants, temporary crowns, and permanent crowns: $4600.

Re: Implants for missing laterals
So just an update (haven't been on here for like a year!!) Got my implants this January 2012. The same day I got temporary crowns placed. Now I'm finally hoping to get the final crowns on next month (!!! at last! I turn 27, so this is the 4 year saga of my mouth! :D) The final crowns are $1400 a pie...

Re: Implants for missing laterals
Sooo good news, bad news. Bad news: not enough space and bone for standard implants. Good news: enough space and bone for minis! The implant doctor said there wasn't a ton of research on minis yet, but he'd placed quite a few successfully, and had a patient recently come back in who'd had them for y...

Re: Implants for missing laterals
Thanks so much for your reply Jethro. It's very reassuring to hear your story. I also now have an open bite in the process of making enough room for the implants. I'm hoping the implant doctor says there's enough extra room that I can get rid of that overbite because it would drive me nuts. ...

Re: Hey
I have missing laterals too Do you know if you're doing space closure or implants, or something else? Good luck with your treatment!

Re: Implants for missing laterals
So now, a year and half later, I'm left wondering if I made the right choice to do implants & make space vs. space closure and removal of two lower teeth  Aside from the cost factor, when I brought up some issues when I was at the ortho last he said: 1) don't worry if your midline doesn't ...

Re: Implants for missing laterals
That's what I didn't get. When he said that (this was months ago) I was just like  ? what are you talking about? Then he never brought that up again, and it was back to two spaces... I've been looking on the internet a lot though, and I think I really do have enough space for implants for sur...

Re: Implants for missing laterals
Thanks so much Ashe for the quick reply  Yeah I think he could spend a little more time talking to me about my treatment since I'm an adult paying out of my own pocket, not a kid whose parents made them get braces, and maybe doesn't really care so much. Yep from day one he gave me the options...

Re: Implants for missing laterals
Thanks for the info, FT. So I had an ortho visit yesterday, and it was good news, bad news time. BIG TIME. Good news: I might be getting my braces off sometime this summer, which could be like 4 months earlier than I expected :-* Bad news: My Dr's all like: "we can have your dentist make a reta...

Re: False teeth?
Audra - Do you have anything in the space in the meantime? Like a fake tooth or a retainer?

Re: False teeth?
That's good, a little disturbing that she asked if you had more teeth coming in. I just turned 25. Right after my 26th birthday I should be looking at getting implants. I don't think congenital missing lateral(s) are all that rare, but I don't know anyone else with them either. Except there's ...

Re: False teeth?
Wow I would definitely go in, that doesn't sound right. It sounds like yours are just little flappers that have a bracket and are on your braces wire? Mines actually a retainer that pops out with 2 teeth on it. It's not great for eating, kind of annoying, but it doesn't hurt at all. The teeth don't ...
