Re: SARPE Surgery

Hey guys! Just wanted to check in! (Glad to hear you are doing better Twinmom) As far as my past week, it has been quite a rollercoaster. As I reported previously, the first 5 days after surgery went smoothly and were incredibly simple. Then day 6 game and it all went downhill. I woke up around 9am ...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hey Everyone, So I just got back from my first Post-Op appointment with the OS. During the meeting he did the first 2 turns of my expander. Its pretty amazing at how the space between my teeth immediately showed up. I am excited that I am getting started now! Cant wait! I hope everyone else is doing...

Re: April 2011 surgery buddies!!!!!

Hey guys! I am 3 days post-op and am actually feeling great. My face is minorly swollen and a little tight but I am not having much of any discomfort. Haven't felt any pain throughout the entire process and even immediately after surgery. My surgeon wants to wait until next tuesday (6 days post-op) ...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hey Guys! Soooo its April 7th and I had my SARPE Surgery done yesterday. Spent the night in the hospital, which I know some people haven't but I am very glad my surgeon suggested it as I feel I am healing a lot faster and a lot more comfortable because of it. I have (in my opinion) pretty minimal sw...

Re: April 2011 surgery buddies!!!!!

I am having SARPE on April 7th and am incredibly excited. It feels as if I have been waiting forever as this journey to deciding on what I wanted to do started almost a year ago now. I am very relieved that I am set up and the decisions have been made.

Re: SARPE Surgery

35k, Im curious... did your gap close up all by itself? or did it have some sort of assistance or do you already have your braces on? I ask because everytime I talk to my Ortho and Surgeon, they tell me not to expect the gap to move at all until I have my braces on. Maybe they are just preping me fo...

Sauerkraut, I appreciate you doing that research for me! haha I am fully expecting mine to take the discussed time to close up, but obviously hoping that the gap closes up almost the entire way fairly quickly. How narrow was your pallet to begin with? do you have any photos posted of your progress?

Last visit with my Ortho, he told me that I could expect the gap for 3-4 months. After reading through this thread, I see that a lot of people's gap closed about 4 weeks after they stopped expanding. Was he giving me a worse case scenario? Are the 1-month'ers just extremely lucky?

Hey Everybody! I am new to the board and am thinking about getting SARPE. I am curious... How much expansion did everyone require (how big was your gap) and how long after final turn did it take for it to close up?

Thats awesome that yours closed so quickly! I am really hoping for the same, and I believe it may be that way as my ortho said that because my mouth is so narrow that it should close within a month. How long did you have to turn the key and expand for before being allowed to stop? Also, did you have...

Chicago - I really appreciate all of your honesty. I don't doubt that the entire process is quite a commitment and that is partially the reason why I am up in the air about it. I have a friends wedding in July 2011 and don't want to have a gap between my teeth, which Im thinking will definitly be ar...

SARPE - Getting Started, Still Debating!

For the past couple months I have been debating whether or not to get braces and exactly what to do. Two months ago I had my first consultation with my orthodontist and he advised me of acouple things. He told me that I had an extremly narrow pallet and every and any type of braces would be benefici...
