I'm 38, and have had braces on for the last 11months....you are definitely not alone!

Well I went back to the orthodontist today; he was great, filed them down a little, they are still not 100% even, but he wants to wait until de-bracing just to get them right. I am so pleased at this result, it is what I was hoping for!

I have been told to check if I am happy with them a week before, so if at this point I am not happy at least I know now to expect them to be filed down....I hope that doesn't hurt!!! Don't give it a second thought!!! Get them! I am in my late 30's, and have had the basic metal braces for 6 months, another 3 to go, and it is the best decision ever! You would regret it in a couple of years if you didn't go for it now!!

Yes! it gets better, especially when you start to see your teeth moving, that is amazing! It does hurt to start, but I just thought of that as good, as at least I know it is the braces starting to work! The inside of your mouth will toughen up, but use wax now that you need it. I posted a similar question a couple of months ago, after getting brace first put on, i was that desperate to see changes! I definitely saw a little change in 2 weeks, but saw a lot of change from one adjustment to the next, which was about 12 weeks or so!

congratulations on making the decision to get braced, it will be the best thing you have ever done! I am the same as you, no one noticed mine until I pointed them out!

Cream eggs!! I bit into one a couple of weeks ago, and it took off one of my brackets, so no more for me until braces come off!!

I got braced 6 weeks later! It should have been 8, but he brought me in early! I am from N Ireland, maybe it is different where you live, but 6 months seems an awful long time to wait! Why don't you phone them and ask when you will be called back?
