Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

It has been awhile since I provided an update on my impacted canine progress, so here it goes..... I have officially become a "failure" story. One full year filled with fun.....A TPA on the roof of my mouth, two chain reattachments (for a total of three exposure surgeries), thousands of do...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

I did not have my baby tooth taken out when I had my initial exposure surgery last May. My ortho let me hang onto it until we were sure that the impacted canine was moving since I was so concerned about having the gaping hole. My baby tooth was finally extracted two weeks ago and my ortho molded and...

Re: Feeling discouraged about impacted canine tooth.

Hi, I am in the same boat. 34 years old with an impacted canine, which is the underlying reason why I have braces. I wish I could tell you this is an easy process, but if you read the "Impacted Canines Club" thread, you will find out that in most cases, it is a slow and often frustrating p...

Re: Found power chain unhooked, what to do ?????

My ortho has intentionally skipped a loop on the power chain (near the molars), but not on a tooth itself. I agree with the previous posters......call your ortho.

Re: Why are my teeth getting worse?! SAD

I am going through this myself and it is true that things may look worse before they get better. Mine actually looked pretty good for the first 4-5 months, but got worse as they created space for my impacted permanent canine. Just chalk it up to being part of the process and trust that your ortho kn...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

Since it has been a while since my last impacted canine update, I thought I would post. I guess I could say that a lot has happened since my last post.....One month into my exposure surgery and chain activation, the chain became detatched from my permanent tooth. Heartbreaking.....what we thought wa...

Re: Did your face shape change after braces?

I constantly get comments about face looking thinner and my cheekbones being more prominent. As a girl with a former "full" face, I consider these to be compliments! When I compare my pre and post braces pics, there is definitely a difference, which is pleasing to me.

Re: There's thingies on my wires...

I have two of them and I recall the office calling them "activator's". Mine are placed on next to a spring that I have on my upper arch. The spring wasn't opening up space very quickly, but once those activator's were put in place, the space opened right up.

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

Just a little update on my canine......I went back to the ortho this past Monday (only two weeks post activation). Movement!!!!!! There were three links of my chain that came out of the soft tissue and the pano showed movement as well! My ortho was VERY pleased. They cut the links off and tightened ...

Re: Elastics Questions...

At my first adjustment I was given light elastics, but only to wear on one side. They were trying to create some space for my impacted canine that has to erupt, so the elastics were supposed to help keep my midline in check. I only wore them for about 4 weeks though.... Since I only had one side and...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

So, here is a little post surgery update for those of you in the same boat as me..... On Monday (one week post exposure surgery), I returned to my orthodontist to have my impacted canine "activated". I love when I arrive and the first thing my ortho says is "this is going to be the mo...

TPA

Soooo....this has not been the most stellar week for me in th orthodontic realm. I was the lucky recipient of a TPA on Monday to aid in my impacted canine eruption. This feels like torture device!! My tongue is torn up from the wire constantly resting on it. I can't eat and when I do, food gets stuc...
