Re: Permanent retainer broke(HELP ASAP)
You could tie them together with dental floss until you get to the ortho.

Re: Should I at 58
The anxiety from the anticipation is really the most difficult part. No one else cares, and you'll get excited once you start seeing results. That could happen pretty fast.

Don't let your age be a barrier. I did it at age 64. Good luck!

Re: Pain with essix retainer after fixed retainer rebonded
Yes, you may need to get the Essix remade or possibly adjusted. Call your ortho. When that happened to me my ortho told me to stop wearing the Essix for a week before coming in to make a new one.

Re: Top Permanent Retainer
I have 6 bonded on top, 8 on the bottom. Sometimes they just do the 2 top incisors if you have had a gap.

Re: Waiting for Hawley Retainer
It's much safer with permanent retainers top and bottom! Why take a chance after going through this twice?

Just because people don't say anything doesn't mean they don't notice -- either when you get them on or get them off.

Re: Help! Brushing teeth and fixed & essix retainers
I have the same setup, upper and lower fixed, and upper Essix. Was never told to brush Essix only once a day. When I was wearing fulltime, which was only for two or three weeks, I always brushed the Essix and my teeth after I ate. Couldn't imagine doing otherwise.

Re: Taking retainer out while attending a wedding
[quote=I was estimating time out of retainers :) - glad to hear it shouldn't make a difference. After reading through quite a few posts under this section, I am thinking of asking for a bonded retainer along with my removable, so I think that should help too.[/quote] I am a fan of bonded retainers a...

Re: Braces and Crowns
Had brackets placed on two lower crowned premolars. When each came off after a few weeks, they sand-blasted, re-attached, and the brackets stayed on for the duration without any further problem. No damage to the crowns.

Re: anybody ever feel like they should be feeling more pain?
I had no pain except when I'd bite my cheek. I did have discomfort chewing the first couple of weeks, but other than that no pain, even with elastics.

Re: Molar build ups / turbos / bite plates
It's all in how you ask the question. Make the query about you, not about them. Share your concerns and fears. A good ortho will work with you, not take offense. By the way, fifty-some years ago when I had my first orthodontic experience, it seemed like almost everyone had a bite plate; they didn't ...
