Second molars out of alignment
I'm about a year into my treatment (estimated 18-20 months) and everything is pretty much straight now. But I've noticed that both of my second molars seem to stick out... Did anyone else have this problem? And how did your Ortho fix it?

Re: Reverse smile-line & overbite... Will my profile change?
Thanks for your responses! I'm looking forward to seeing some facial and profile changes. For the better I hope. From what my Ortho explained to me, a reverse smile-line is what happens when you have an open bite. Now mine is so mild with overbite that there's no gap between the top and bottom arch....

Reverse smile-line & overbite... Will my profile change?
I've had my braces on for about a month. I started with an overbite (front teeth covering 60% of bottom instead of the ideal 10%), slight overjet of two front teeth. The front teeth still have 1/3 of the way to go to be aligned with the top arch. I also have a reverse smile-line. My ortho planned on...

Re: Chewing Gum
I chew gum very sparingly now that I have my braces. But I've found them to be really helpful in working the right side of my mouth a bit. I can no longer chew on that side of the mouth, (maybe I never really could) but I feel like chewing gum helps strengthen it a bit.

Re: Unexpected Changes?
My "buck" front teeth also straightened out in a month! I was SO glad. They were so horrid looking when I first got braced, the brackets and crooked wire just emphasized how bad they were. They were the primary reason I went into this braces thing. I foolishly thought my teeth were not too...
Oh, that's pretty funny! I can't bite my hangnails off any more. Also, getting comfy on the couch one night, I got fuzz from my afghan in my braces when I went to fling it up over my shoulders and it dragged across my teeth.
I've also gotten scarf/blanket fuzz in...

Re: Hidden plaque revealed?
The teeth do reveal their secrets when they move. OP, you're lucky that the tartar/plaque is close to teeth colored...
My teeth revealed a dark brown spot in my front teeth! It looks REALLY bad. Luckily, I have a dentist appt tomorrow. So hopefully, it'll be taken care of. Fingers crossed....

Re: Dent and stain from overlapped teeth... Help!!
I'm so relieved that there's a solution!
Does the hygenist at the Orthodontist's office do scaling?
My stain is behind the wire, so I think it should be done when I get my wires changed. I'm afraid a dentist/ortho wouldn't be able to get around the wire otherwise.

Dent and stain from overlapped teeth... Help!!
As my overlapped teeth are getting spaced out, I've noticed a dent and unsightly stain where the teeth used to overlap. It looks I have a huge piece of food stuck in my teeth all the time!
What can I do? Has anyone had this happen to them?
