Re: Dramatic jaw changes from putting surgery off
There may be some wear, but the effects of it now will be much less than waiting longer. Plus they can always put a sealer on your teeth (not optimal) but thats better than having had the surgery years ago, and now having excessive tooth wear stating to happen again because your jaw grew and got wor...

Re: Dramatic jaw changes from putting surgery off
I had braces all in highschool (4 years) and knew I was going to have to have surgery, but I didnt feel comfortable with the first surgeon I met. I went to another, and he said I would need to wait at least 4 more years before having surgery, so I had my braces taken off for 3 years, and had changes...

Re: Is this right - Gunson/Arnett
WOW. those prices are HIGH!!! My bill after everything was $28K + braces, but I only had a lefort 1 done so that may be why. The hospital came out around $10K I believe, so these numbers you all have are HUGE for me. Maybe its a midwest thing

Re: The
took me two weeks, although the ortho is a family friend so he made room in his schedule. I see no reason why you couldn't be get braces on within a month of your consult.

Re: its not so bad
shanalouis - I totally agree. I was psyching myself out over the surgery and such but all in all it was quite easy and recovery for me was quick. It helped that I was going to a surgeon I felt comfortable with and actually spent time talking to me and even last minute explained things again so I'd r...

Re: cheeks
I feel if you dont have issues with your bite at all look at other options. Jaw surgery is pretty extreme for "chubby" cheeks imo

Re: December Buddies ................
Glad to hear everyone else is doing well! I am just under two weeks post op and I guess I've been a little on the fast side for eating food (I love my pancakes right now - my surgeon said I can mush things with my tongue on the roof of my mouth.) and have been doing lots of the pasta cut up and not ...

Re: December Buddies ................
I've been out of surgery since 2ish today (one of the best he's had in quite awhile for ease :D ) and have not been that tired after I woke up in recovery around 3-330. I had chatted for a few hours and have been keeping ice on it - eating the small ice chunks the hospital gives me is nice. I someho...

I believe the dot is for alignment stuff during surgery but not fully positive. Great to hear that you have feeling right away, hopefully the same happens for me! Sounds like everything went good which is great!

Re: Does the cold bother anyone else's jaw/mouth?
I've been hearing this and its one of my big concerns with my upcoming surgery as I'm big into skiing which is not going to be fun - not sure how I'm going to keep my face from hurting as I like the powder getting on my beard :( Izzy1979 - I think you meant the metal contracts when its cold ;) (Seni...

I'm scheduled for Dec 21st - Lefort 1. Quite nervous about it right now, which needs to wait until after finals next week.
Good luck to all of you who have them soon!

Re: Questioning having Lefort 1 Osteotomy in a couple weeks
Thanks for your response! The more the better I guess... I'm not looking for one person to tell me do it or not, just sort of looking for their stories and pictures like yours to help me make an educated decision without the influence of the orthodontist or surgeon. So far I haven't had any issues w...

Questioning having Lefort 1 Osteotomy in a couple weeks
Hi all. First off I'm new here so hello. Secondly, I'm having major pre-surgery jitters/concerns with having an upper jaw surgery which is scheduled in a couple of weeks. My surgeon is Kyle Tidstrom in Edina, MN and is a family friend so I feel comfortable with the surgeon. What I'm concerned about ...
