Re: February 2011 Buddies!!!

Congrats canthandlethetooth, I wish you a speedy and easy recovery. I love my teeth - thanks for the pointer to the November thread. I just spent much of the past few days reading through all 12 pages of that one. The whole time I read it I was in disbelief that beowulf68 was wired for that long (10...

Re: so angry

shanalouis, I mean this in the most supportive way possible....I really think you should find a professional to talk to. You obviously are in a very bad mood about all of this (for good reason, of course), and it seems to me that you feel overwhelmed. If your surgeon is correct, the problem will go ...

Re: February 2011 Buddies!!!

"do you know what your post op course is?" - I Love My Teeth I will be wired shut for five weeks. I tried to say this above, but I don't think I was very clear....My OS gave me two options for my BSSO since I am having my lower set back. Choice #1 involves an angled cut of the bone which ...

Re: February 2011 Buddies!!!

I just found that Zip-n-Squeeze is out of business...and have been for quite some time. Oh well, that's one less thing to worry about. Looks like I will be eating with a turkey baster instead....if you can really call that eating.

Re: February 2011 Buddies!!!

I have slid through about sixteen inches of snow in the past two days here in upstate NY to get myself to a few pre-surgical appointments. First I had to visit the hospital for paperwork, answering questions for a nurse regarding my health and the expected anasthesia, and providing blood and urine s...

Re: muscle spasms

Some spasms are related to a potassium imbalance, too much or, more likely, too little. Try adding a banana, or a few, to your diet to see if that helps relieve the spasms.

To get to the magic number of seven. (I hope padding my stats like this isn't frowned upon).

As someone just beginning my pre-surgical appointments (surgery is four weeks from now), thank you, Chicago29, for the inspiring words.

Re: February 2011 Buddies!!!

I am having surgery on 21 FEB. I'll be getting both upper and lower done to correct my open bite: LeFort I + lower jaw setback. I don't think I am officially having BSSO. I was given the choice between two methods for the lower and chose the option that puts my chin sensory nerves at the least risk....

Re: what is this
Wanted to add, from what I've read on the forum, the bones aren't expected to start joining until 6 to 8 weeks postop, so a little softness at 4 weeks isn't unexpected.
I recently broke a finger and was told this as well. The X-rays taken at four weeks looked almos...

Re: BaliGirl's Braces & Surgery Story

BaliGirl, you're story has inspired me to finally stop lurking and register to use this board. I too have an open bite (thanks to genetics on my own father's side). I had braces when I was young (6th-8th grade), and am now 36 years old. At the time I was finishing treatment when I was young, my orth...
