question about retainers

i have an odd number of top teeth. my right lateral inscisor just never grew in. as a result, they're creating a space for an implant to be put in. when my braces come off, i'll be given a retainer with a fake tooth attached that i will have to wear at all times for two years. afterwords, i am able ...

i have a bite plate in currently. it's like a thick retainer that prevents you from biting down all the way. i think the way it works is that it allows your bottom teeth to move vertically since there is no constant pressure applied to them from biting down, so they are able to come out of the gums ...

thanks.

gum problem when closing up gaps

hello doctor. today i went in for my fifth adjustment. i've had power chains for two months. earlier today, i had about a 2mm gap in between my two front teeth. my orthodontist is making room for an implant tooth next to my left front tooth because i have an odd number of adult teeth for some reason...

the only thing i really needed when i first got braces was chap stick. my lips were constantly chapped, and the chap stick really didn't even help that much. it was wonderful when it would get really bad and a side of my lip would swell up really badly because they were so chapped. i never needed to...

i'm in my sixth month, and i didn't notice any improvement until now.

your overbite most likely won't get improved much with braces. he said mine most likely won't. usually jaw surgery is required for adults to fix overbite.

Is it the acid and chemicals in Diet Coke or the carbonation? Like is sparkling water and tonic water no-nos too? the carbonation is just carbon dioxide gas, so that doesn't have any ill effects on your teeth. basically, when a can of soda is sitting under constant pressure (aka is closed) the solu...

Normal for gums to bleed when brushing with braces?

I know that when your gums bleed when you brush that usually means you have a gum disease. However, I've never had this problem until my last adjustment. I was given a new thicker wire and also those rubber bands in the figure eight shape that connect to two of my teeth to close gaps. This just star...
