Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Day uh... 37 (5 weeks) update: Since my last post I've... -Had my splint taken out. I have to agree; pretty big improvement in convenience. He told me I didn't need an archwire because I had a SARPE prior. So I was like "Awwwwwww yeah." -Gone to ortho for first time since surgery. He just ...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Sam: I haven't asked my surgeon, but what you described is exactly what mine sound like. Anna: For me it's -I used to go once every 3 weeks before surgery. I've been going since July of last year. -For surgical follow-ups, I've been going once a week. The frequency still seems to be weekly at this p...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Day 23 Update: My surgeon told me he was gonna take out my splint this week. He lied :( He wants me to wait until next week because that's when my ortho appointment is, which makes sense, I guess. But I was really looking forward to the splint being out this week. I'm starting to get sensation back ...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Day uh... 13 update: MY TEETH ITCH. I really want to bite something to relieve the tension. The only complication at this point is that my teeth are sore, for whatever reason. The sides of my mouth/my cheeks are still stiff and it feels weird when I smile. I went through a slight withdrawal with the...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Day 8 update: I have to agree with Danoob; day 8 feels good, bro. Still have some swelling here and there. I got unbanded today and am now on 2 elastics. I can only open my mouth a small bit. I can't even fit a spoon in, but I had a few spoonfuls of shaved ice today by resting the spoon on my bottom...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Anna, I'm taking liquid Hydrocodone for pain. And regarding your swelling, don't worry! It went down noticeably for me starting from day 4. Day 6 update: Swelling has gone down by quite a bit. Upper lip is still swollen/stiff. Still have a double chin. Still having headaches from the tension of the ...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Question. It's been 6 days since the surgery and I haven't had any bowel movements since. Is that weird? I've also developed hemorrhoids on day 3, even though I've never attempted to nor felt the need to poop. I've been eating liquid mashed potatoes and drinking juices.

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Day 4 update: Swelling is down a small bit, but still very noticeable. I think my upper lip got even more swollen, or at least it's more stiff than it was day 1. It may be because I've been drinking a lot of orange juice and the acidity is messing with it. The pain hasn't gotten any better. I've bee...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
I'm home from the hospital too. I had problems with nausea the night of the surgery too, but I didn't throw up or anything. Didn't get any sleep and I don't have much of an appetite.

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
@ramirezmu8: In Santa Ana.
@Lucia07 & IamSam12345: Thanks!
My surgeon told me I was getting my upper and lower jaw moved about 7mm forward and back respectively. Is that pretty severe? It sounds pretty severe. I just want to be on the road to recovery already. Haha.

Re: SARPE Surgery
*sigh* So I went to my oral surgeon today after 2 weeks of expanding. Apparently, my front bone didn't split because my bone was too thick. I kinda thought something was off as I never got a gap between my front teeth. I had the surgery done in his office so I wasn't completely under anesthesia, as ...

Re: SARPE Surgery
A pizza binge sounds heavenly at this point. Thank you for your replies 35ksmile and foxparadox. Chewing harder foods won't mess up how the bones heal? That's the only thing keeping me from quenching my thirst for animal flesh. Haha. I had braces on prior to the SARPE, which seems to be a little unc...

Re: SARPE Surgery
So I had this surgery 4 days ago and I'm dealing pretty well with it so far. I feel a little sore in the morning, but that's about all the pain I've been experiencing. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take before you guys were allowed to chew again? My surgeon told me to avoid chewing, but he ...
