Re: slanted jaw?
I have a serious slant in my lower jaw. I think my first ortho caused it by bending wires, but then again maybe it was there all along...I guess I'll know as the treatment progresses.

Re: When in treatment did you get rubber bands?
With my first provider, I got them the same day I was braced--but then again he didn't know what he was doing. I don't think I'll get them with my new ortho until I'm at least 4-6 months through my treatment.

Re: Why do adults get braces if results don't last?
This is good for me to know as well. I definitely can't be a slacker when it comes to retainers. I have an overbite so it's disappointing to hear I have a higher incidence of relapse. Oh well. As long as it takes a long time for this relapse I guess I'll be okay.

Re: Is the Essix Retainer actually clear?
Thanks TumbleDryLow! I guess it figures it would look better on the model than in real life, LOL. I am sure it is a nice step up from braces though

Is the Essix Retainer actually clear?
I was told I would receive an Essix retainer after my treatment, and the retainer they showed me looked absolutely perfect on the display mouth set in the office. I recall seeing a friend who was debraced and she had a very obvious plastic covering over her teeth. I am wondering if that is the way t...

Re: How did you know when you found the right orthodontist?
I recently completed a search for a new orthodontist because I found out the DDS I was going to wasn't board certified and he essentially admitted he was not-and had not been-sure how to correct my problem for a while  . Ortho #1: I payed $55 for this consultation. He and his staff were wonder...

Re: Desperate! Please Help-Q about Switching Orthos and Refu
Thanks again to everyone who responded to this thread. It has been a harrowing week but there is now a forseeable end to this saga. I was able to negotiate a refund with the first dentist. I will get $2500 (a little less than half the total cost) back . This will go towards a down payment for the wo...

Re: Getting Braces?
I think your teeth look fine. The average person wouldn't notice anything about it, but I can see how an orthodontist would say you have a slight overbite. I have one as well :).

Re: How did you know when you found the right orthodontist?
This is a great topic. I am in the process of choosing a new orthodontist and reading about people's consultations and the choices they ultimately make are great. I've had 3 consults so far, and one recommended a very invasive procedure along with speech therapy. Most likely Mr. invasive recommendat...

Re: Desperate! Please Help-Q about Switching Orthos and Refu
Hi Everyone, Thanks again for all your responses. I have found encouragement as well as useful information in all of them. Hopefully there can be an amicable and fair resolution to this issue so things don't have to get ugly. There is nothing in my contract stating that he is a general practitioner....

Re: Desperate! Please Help-Q about Switching Orthos and Refu
Also, a little more about my case...I can't say I have had no progress because some things have changed. I am just worried he doesn't know--and hasn't known--how to address certain issues for sometime. There have been some hiccups along the way, but there has been some progress. I had a big gap btwn...

Re: Desperate! Please Help-Q about Switching Orthos and Refu
Thanks so much to all of you for taking the time to respond. The responses are all very helpful. I definitely need to have a serious conversation with my dentist, but either way at this point I am leading towards going elsewhere--unless he can hand me over to a new ortho for free. If I am lucky and ...

Desperate! Please Help-Q about Switching Orthos and Refund
This is kind of long post, but please read it and respond if you have time to go through it! I don't know many people with braces so anyone's feedback would be really helpful. Despite the title of this topic, I must start out by saying the person I thought was my "ortho" is not an orthodon...
