Re: October 2011 Surgery Buddies?

I'm home now and this is so hard. I researched this surgery for so long so I'm not sure why I am struggling so much. It's only day 1 and I am so swollen and its scary that I'm already so big.

Re: October 2011 Surgery Buddies?

My "sickness" passed so I think it was just the case of me stressing myself out (or wishful thinking)! I did buy a humidifier this past week and tried it out last night and I could see how it could be beneficial. Today was my last day at work for a while, so I have the weekend to rest up a...

Re: October 2011 Surgery Buddies?

Oh that's terrible! To wake up with those complications. I'm getting anxious now. Not sleeping and very nauseated all the time. I know it's just nerves but still. I'm also (perhaps) developing a cold. Last night went to bed with congestion in my sinus and woke up this morning and it hasn't went away...

Re: October 2011 Surgery Buddies?

How terrible to be checked in and at the last minute abandoned for another day! I hope tomorrow goes smoothly for you and check back in when you feel better.

Re: October 2011 Surgery Buddies?

It is quiet! I'm about 11 days from surgery myself and getting very anxious. I've not even really went shopping for necessary items (such as soup, etc.), which I should probably start gathering up. I just really don't want to buy unnecessary items. I guess I'll research it more. The surgeons office ...

Re: October 2011 Surgery Buddies?

I received my surgery packet in the mail yesterday. I have to do a bunch of stuff in the next few weeks to prepare for the surgery. Mostly just more impressions, xrays that I'll have done within two weeks of the surgery and then the appts with Kaiser and the educational class. Of course they schedul...

Re: October 2011 Surgery Buddies?

I'm scheduled for October - but it's the very last day (31st) so I might as well be in November. I was given the choice of two dates (Oct. 31st or December 28th) and I just couldn't see waiting until December to do something I've already been planning to have done for the last year. Since I have Kai...

My surgery is scheduled

I scheduled my surgery for October 31st and am hoping that others join me soon. I'm actually pretty nervous now. I've never had any sort of surgery before and it seems all a little overwhelming right now. I'm having both jaws moved, palate expansion, chin (cosmetic) and sinus. All of this is really ...

Adriae's Brace Adventure

Hello everyone - I'm so glad I found this forum because the past few months I've been lurking about reading different threads so I could prepare myself (somewhat) for this journey into ortho. I'm 36 years old and even though I had braces and a retainer when I was younger I guess my bite/jaw reverted...

Re: Ouch; eating after install!

I started using wax today lol. I went back to work and my job is customer service and all the talking I was doing on the phones was just causing craziness in my mouth so I gave up and put some wax in several spots and pushed through the rest of the day. It does seem to help me alot when I drink wate...

Re: 4 days in and thinking of giving up

I'm five days in and I have had several "OMG what did I do to myself" moments but you really have to just push through it. Today was my first day back at work (I got braces on Thursday and came down with bronchitis that night!) so I really wasn't looking forward to going back to work this ...

Re: Ouch; eating after install!

Today was my first "real" meal. I had mashed potatoes, tri-tip (steak), and salad. I did manage to eat the steak better than I thought I would be able to. I just had to cut it into really small bites. I'm still rather discouraged about eating though. I really dislike the fact that every si...

Re: Ouch; eating after install!

I'm on day three of having braces put on bottom and top and I find myself skipping meals. I just don't want to deal with the pain of trying to chew and the cleaning part afterward. If I do have to eat then I do soup and I tried a grilled cheese but the cheese kept getting stuck on the brackets so I ...

Re: Hi!

I'm just having one of those weeks. Earlier this week I was having a hard time with spacers. They had only placed the spacers on Monday and then I was to have my braces placed on Thursday. When I arrived on Thursday morning I was just starting to get sick (coughing, etc.) so I wasn't sure if they wo...
