Re: Inman aligners

Hi Smiletime, I think it's time for the Dentist to start offering explanations! 12 weeks is a long time for nothing to have happened! How many hours a day are you wearing the IA? If it's around 20 hours then something is definitely wrong! A new aligner might be an idea, just make sure that he doesn'...

Re: Inman aligners

Hi Smiletime Sorry to hear it's not been going so well. Did you mention in an earlier post that the dentist had in some way modified the IA? I'm not sure he should be doing that really as these things are made by qualified technicians. If there is something wrong with it I think he should have sent ...

Re: Inman aligners

Hi Boomerang, I got the clear retainer 24 hours after I had the bonded fitted, so very quick indeed. I was worried if the bonded would hold for those 24 hours even, but it was totally fine! I am wearing my clear as much as possible, but take it out for meals and if I'm on a night out, that sort of t...

Re: Inman aligners

Hi Sazzler Here is a photo of when my teeth we pretty much straight but you see one is longer than the other, making them look very uneven - http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj217/somnv/DSC02055.jpg Here is a photo after they were shaved - http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj217/somnv/Teeth/2.jpg...

Re: Inman aligners

For anyone consider the IA, or anyone who currently has it - now that I'm finished, I have to say that I am very glad I went through the process, and don't regret it at all. There were times I had my doubts it would work properly (a lot of the time in fact) but I really am pleased with the final res...

Re: Inman aligners

Hi Smiletime, it is probably a build up of tartar. You could try to just scrape it off with your fingernail or something like a pin, but be careful not to damage the IA in the process.

Re: Inman aligners

Thanks guys. I hope to get the other photos (i.e. the ones the dentist took) tomorrow so I'll post them as well. As for cleaning the IA, if you buy retainer brite on amazon.co.uk they may post out to other countries as well. I'm using retainer brite for my essix retainer now too. It's important to k...

Re: Inman aligners

I've finished my IA treatment!!! I'm really pleased with the result. I was in on Tuesday to get the bonded wire retainer fitted, and the dentist shaved the teeth down to make them even, which made a huge difference and was totally painless! He then took impressions and I got my clear essix retainer ...

Re: Inman aligners

Welcome to the forum alice1 and becpz. Alice - your English is very good. If you hadn't said you're not a native speaker I wouldn't have known. Just remember, the initial pain does go away, and the time really does go by so quickly! I have had mine 9 weeks today, and I get my bonded wire retainer fi...

Re: Inman aligners

Thanks Smiletime, I will get some photos up soon. It's hard to say how much filing is normal because all teeth are different of course. The filing should help you teeth really start to move now though. Tennessee - I've never heard of spring retainers, but I guess that does sound like IA. I'd really ...

Re: Inman aligners

I went to see my dentist today and he said my treatment is pretty much done! My two front teeth are not 100% in line with each other but as good as it's going to get and it is a huge improvement. He did a bit more filing too and took impression so I'm back in two weeks for a bonded retainer and then...

Re: Inman aligners

Hi Lilpickle - to be honest, my front teeth are still a little bit tender when it comes to eating and that's 8 weeks in now! I always eat everything with a knife and fork. I wouldn't like to chomp into a burger or big sandwich! I also constantly checked for movement! Don't worry, your teeth will mov...

Re: Inman aligners

Mine is on the top, so I can't really say, but my front bar certainly sits in line with the bottom edge of my teeth (i.e. not near the gum). I find it strange that he didn't look at how you were wearing it though. Plus when I first got mine, the dentist made me put it in and take it out a couple of ...

Re: Inman aligners

Tipps - looking good! Your case looks similar to mine, but my tooth stuck out a fair bit more than yours, which is probably why it is taking a bit longer. I also have the problem of one tooth being longer than the other but my dentist said he could shave one down, or build the other up a bit to make...
