Re: Deband date POSTPONED

I am relieved about the braces. But, now I'm concerned about my gums. My dentist's assistant gave me the information for a periodontist that they refer patients to. She initially said that my teeth looked great at my appointment 2 weeks ago and that she doubts that I have any reason for concern. But...

Deband date POSTPONED

My concerns that I discussed in this last post were valid. Here is a link to it: http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=44668 My orthodontist added hooks to the brackets on my lower canines and I am supposed to use Class III elastics. My next adjustment is in 4 weeks. He noticed th...

Debanding date is FOUR days away.

I am FREAKING OUT because my deband date is scheduled for this coming Tuesday. The reason that I am afraid is because I don't think my teeth feel stable enough to be released yet. It was only March when I posted this rant and I definitely want to make sure that my teeth are in the perfect position: ...

Re: My braces treatment has gone TOTALLY OFF TRACK.

It really is sad that things are going this way. I was extremely excited about the possibility of getting my braces off. Now they look like they did in October. I take pictures and keep documentation of what's been done. My next appointment is April 11th and I feel like it's time to have a sit-down ...

My braces treatment has gone TOTALLY OFF TRACK.

I have been wearing braces for 26 months to close 3 gaps in my upper teeth - one between each canine and lateral incisor and one large diastema in the midline. I also had an overjet and flaring. But, my original treatment plan was for 18 months. My orthodontist saw me on February 28 and said that my...

Re: Melanie's Story

I waited 2 months to post an update. Basically, my last adjustment was pretty routine - just changed out wires, O's and power chains. The only difference was that my orthodontist used a stainless steel arch wire. However, my next adjustment was different because my orthodontist removed the litigatin...

Re: Melanie's Story

Today was my second adjustment. My orthodontist is actively working on closing my gap now. He is using a heavier wire on the upper braces and replaced the power chain and all of the ligatures. He also placed a power chain on the last 2 teeth on bottom, left side of my mouth because those teeth need ...

Re: Melanie's Story

I started doing well with braces about 2 weeks ago. But, my teeth felt sensitive after they got adjusted yesterday. I should be able to chow down again by this weekend...just in time to celebrate Valentine's day!! :jump:

Melanie's Story

I got my braces on January 11th. My treatment plan states the following: Skeletally, the mandible is significantly retruded in relation to the maxilla and the cranial base. Dentally, a Class I Malocclusion is present with the following characteristics: 5mm overjet, 5mm overbite, spacing in the upper...

Re: First adjustment day

UPDATE: the lateral incisors are already tight on the central incisors...only 12 hours after my appointment. I noticed that I had difficulty getting the floss between the lateral incisors. I wonder if they will help to push the central incisors together....hmmm...

First adjustment day

My braces were adjusted today. My orthodontist commented that my teeth look good...a few times. So, that was very encouraging. He put a heavier wire on the bottom and metal ligatures on my molars. I asked for pink ligatures on the bottom thinking that would make the metal brackets blend in better wi...

Re: getting used to braces

@ Jane - how long did it take to gain your weight back. I'm in my 30's and weight loss shows up on your face now. One of my lovely coworkers informed me that my cheeks look sunken...lil stinker!! @TTR - it will get better, I promise. I went out Saturday night and ate to my hearts content. Luckily my...

Re: getting used to braces

@ rwashington - I ordered the Shepard's Pie at Dan McGuinness Irish Pub. I don't see any locations in Florida, but I'm sure it's a menu standard at any other Irish pubs. St. Patty's day is coming up, so make sure to try it then. @ beautifulbraceface - congrats on starting this journey...good thing y...

Re: getting used to braces

Here is a link to my first post. http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=38227 I am so excited about this process and can't wait to see improvements in my bite and smile. I am really glad that I waited until adulthood to get braces. Most of the people that had them as children exper...
