Re: Bite plate questions
I had a NON-REMOVEABLE bite plate for the first 3 months of my treatment; only on month 5 right now. I had a cross bite and a deep bite and the purpose of it was to keep my bite/mouth open in order to give the teeth in cross-bite time/space to move forward. My cross-bite only involved my top canine ...

Re: Elastics Questions...
First, I thought and have read that elastics are usually toward the end, or 2nd half, of treatment. Having said that I am supposed to start mine next month at the 4 month mark of a 12-18 month estimated treatment time. Anyone else get them this early? How long do you typically wear these? I will as...

Re: Man my teeth hurt!
I felt the same way for the first week or two....teeth hurt like heck, on Advil around the clock, and not able to eat hardly anything. I am now 8 weeks into my treatment and it is MUCH MUCH better now! Certain teeth have sensitive days and it hurt a little after my first adjustment but it's not that...

OMG, first follow-up appt HURT like you know what :(
OK, so I had my first follow-up appt yesterday at 6 weeks and I was sooo not prepared for the amount of pain involved  I don't know if my tech is just really rough or it's normal for it to hurt like heck and feel like your brackets and teeth are trying to be yanked out of your mouth every time ...

Re: Bite turbos, molar build-ups, bite plates
The non-removeable bite plate is attached with metal wires to the top back molar bands. It's a little tricky to clean around and stuff gets stuck underneath it (roof of my mouth) sometimes but I can usually get it out swishing mouthwash under it. It's only in for 4 months and my ortho has assured me...

Re: Bite turbos, molar build-ups, bite plates
I have a bite plate that is not removeable along with top and bottom braces. My ortho didn't give me an option but I have heard turbos and build-ups break off a lot and are more tedious on the maintenance side of things if that makes sense. I also have heard of people getting removeable bite plates ...

Re: Lower Bite Plate
First, congrats on your braces ;) I got mine on 2 weeks ago with a non-removeable upper bite plate so I feel your pain for sure :( I've actually never heard of the lower bite plate but it sounds awful :( My upper plate is making my talk funny and it's very hard to eat because none of my teeth touch ...

Re: OMG :( What have I just done :(
Thanks Olivia :) I've laughed (and cried) with co-worker's about it today :/ I just have to trust that in a week the speech issue will be better and keep focusing on the end results. It's still hard not to be depressed about it all right now but I'll make it through!

OMG :( What have I just done :(
So my braces and bite plate went on yesterday and I am seriously in the "what the heck did I just do" phase :( I have cried twice, I can't talk right with this bite plate in, I can't eat anything substantial (my teeth hurt like heck and none of my teeth even touch to be able to chew with t...

Re: Thursday is my big day too :/
Oh it isn't nothing to worry about. I got mine on January 13th, and it's like they are not even there! Good luck!
I forgot to mention that my concern stems from the fact that I have to have a bite plate in addition to my braces, which is the part my ortho told me w...

Thursday is my big day too :/
But for me it's getting them on :( I swear if I hadn't already paid $1300 out of pocket I would probably back out :( I can't wait for the end result but I am very very concerned about talking like a fool with a lisp for 18 months :( I'm 28 and have a highly visible position in my company and have to...
