I just came from my first visit to the orthodoncist, and ouch :cry: this time really hurt... They changed both wires, and put some kind of transparent chain to remove the gaps. I have spent a bad time on the wires change, as the wires didn't fit well on the brackets, so they had to push reallly real...

I don't know what were you thinking but you will not regret. You deserve the best smile, and now it's only a matter of time, go for it!

Just an update, as I went skiing last weekend, and had no problems at all

I was worried about travel with braces too... What about going to a safari with them? In such places you can't find easily an ortho if something happens hehehe

I just had my first one tonight... :yikes: I lost one of the braces, and when I was touching the new 'space' with my tongue, the upper wire was broken and four upper front braces fell out... I do some other sports but I don't think I have any problems with them as there are less 'risky' (trekking, gym activities, dancing, etc...)

I guess it would be a nice thing to put some extra lips protector agains wind, cold and sun.

I got braces one week ago, and I like to do some sports that now I feel like more dangerous

For example, I like to go skiing, but now I'm a bit scared thinking on a crash or something like this. Any experiences on this?

I got braced at 37. Most people thinks it is strange to do it at my age, but well, It's my decission and I want to have a nicer smile and a better bite

I think one of the problems with alcohol is that it 'dries' your mouth, and that's not a great thing if you have braces inside. I guess taking alcohol drinks should be the same.

I keep far from alcohol mouthwash but, emmm, well I still drink some wine & beer

I'm wearing metal damon Q and I'm so happy with them.

I was on Costa rica some years ago, and I have to say I liked it very very much (I'm from Spain)

I try to remember why I got braces, and what I'm going to achieve.

Also, It helps to keep yourself busy or active, at least it works for me, but I don't feel much pain by now.

I would call the ortho to be sure... if the bracket is not connected to the wire, it's not working (but can be moved by the other ones, and that can be good or bad)

Most of the times, the results don't last because people stop using their removable retainers, or their fixed retainers were not perfectly attached or got 'unglued' and never came back to the dentist to fix it.
