Re: pain with TADS

I had TAD's for 6 months. There was no pain during insertion, the entire 6 month duration, or during removal. TAD's are put into bone and there are no nerve endings in bone. Maybe the tissue around it has become irritated, or it's the teeth moving that are causing you pain. If you believe its the TA...

Will I miss them?...absolutely not! I just asked my ortho how much longer they will be on and he said 8 months...OMG depressed the whole day!

Mountains of Metal. Top this.

Amazing how much my mouth can hold:
Metal brackets top and bottom with lingual cleats.
Archwires on top and Bottom and Utility archwire top and bottom (for intrusion)...so that's 4 archwires!
TAD's
Wire ties.
(also have powerchains and elastics)

Re: So frustrated... 5.5 years and counting...

Definately not reasonable. Get ALL records so you have the before and after evidence then go seek advice from another ortho. Maybe your ortho is so horrible (quack) that he has been spending the last few years correcting his own mistakes in your mouth. Good luck.

Re: Estimated time to get my braces off? Ortho doesn't tell

My ortho is very vague as well. After I was braced for a year I asked about a debrace date figuring that he should have a pretty good idea now that he has seen how the teeth move. He still would only say. Instead he said his estimate of brace time was between 2 and three years. I pressed him further...

Re: I'm more self-conscious WITH the braces than I was witho

I went with the traditional metal and still feel self conscious after 17 months. Everyone is different in their degree of vanity. I spend 2/3 of my time in a high vanity environment (my work environment) so it seems that I will feel like this until I'm debraced...but I really wasn't expecting anythi...

Re: Who has had four premolars extracted AND all four wisdom

I had my wisdom teeth extracted in my 20's then 4 premolars the same week as bracing. The wisdom teeth needed to go as they were extracted. With severe crowding I need to have the premolars extracted or have surgery. I chose extraction. I have had facial change...definate narrowing, which I really d...

Re: Just puttin' this out there...

This journey would be so much better if I felt like you, however, I loathe all this metal in my mouth and I also don't like the attention that it draws. I can't wait to get them off...I'll feel sooooo much better about myself.

Re: TADS/Microscrews... what's your experience been like?

I had the TAD's. Easy time getting them in but not very comfortable while in. I had them for three months, then at the last visit, 3 weeks ago my ortho consulted with another saying "they were working well but now I see there has been no movement since the last visit" (so they worked for m...

Re: New here...getting TADs put in Monday and I'm nervous!

I had TAD's for absolute anchor not open bite but I can tell you they don't hurt. Mine were done with topical anesthetic only. They are screwed into bone and there are no nerves. Good luck.

Re: Has anyone got tad's or is getting them. Got ????

I have them (3 months now). It was no big deal. Topical anesthetic only, because they are screwed into your bone (no nerves there). I felt no pain during the procedure. The TAD's were immediately loaded with NiTi springs which were only uncomfortable because they kept cathcing on my cheeks. They see...
