Re: Expansion or Extraction?
Consider getting multiple opinions before making a decision from both an orthodontist and jaw surgeon. I went the extraction route and wish I would have researched more into expansion/sarpe. However, my face/smile was already small-extractions, in some people, hardly show a difference and are the be...

Thanks Lilone, I appreciate the reply. I was also worried about the wear of my teeth if I left it without extracting. I will talk to the ortho about trying an expander without surgery too. Thanks!

Regret my extractions-now how do I fix my crossbite? *Pics*
I've been in my braces for 3.5 years now (I'm 27). I originally had overcrowding/crossbite/overbite/midline discrepancy. The first ortho I went to for a consultation methodically suggested a Sarpe to correct my narrow upper jaw. The second ortho wanted to hold off and try to correct with just braces...

Re: Before it gets better it might get worse?
Mine looked the worst about a month or two into treatment but eventually everything straightens out and aligns properly. Once your tooth is attached to the archwire, you will see good progress,

Re: what's the cost of your braces?
1. Where are you located? Seattle/New york 2. How much are you paying for your braces? Paid $4000 est for 24 mo= treatment in seattle. Switched ortho's at the end of my treatment and now I'm paying $200/mo ongoing. If you can help it DO NOT SWITCH ORTHOS during treatment=$$$$ 3. What kind of braces ...

Re: Metal vs Clear braces
I was told the metal braces are a little faster. I ended up going with the clear braces top and bottom and I like them better. With clear bands, you can barely tell they are there when I talk.

Re: Is it possible for crowded teeth to move?
yes-the crowded teeth will move. As you wear your braces your teeth may slightly flare out to make room for moving. This is what mine did and I did eventually have to have two molars extracted from my upper jaw because once your braces are off, they will relapse and straighten back down. You will ne...

Re: When will it finally be over?
I feel the same as you. My estimated treatment was 2 years and I've been wearing them for 4.5 now-but I had to switch orthos during treatment. I'm working on closing one last extraction gap and my ortho has me coming in every two weeks instead of 4. I would see if you can come in more frequently for...

Re: Best Floss for braces? SturdyFloss? Threader?
I prefer the Oral B threader floss. The stiff end makes it really easy. I also get the DenTek easy brushes.
