Re: Ortho says no Damon Lower Clears. Help?

Go and talk to yourself in front of the mirror. You will find you actually see very little of your lower teeth so whatever brackets you have they are not very noticeable. I found the metal brackets smaller and more comfortable as they were smoother round the edges than the clear ones (i had clear so...

Re: Is Retainers a Seperate Cost from the Braces Treatment?

Mine were included in the price. If I lose/break my essix I would have to pay to replace them.

Re: fitting for retainers?

For mine my permanent retainers were put on first. Then my braces were removed. Then impressions taken for essix retainers. This was all in one appointment. I collected the essix 2 days later.

Re: Food getting stuck between metal band and molar-what to

Get it sorted, its disgusting! There's no reason to suffer with smelly breath because of braces. Molar bands should fit the tooth, so don't suffer in silence. If you leave it and there's food wedged in there it could cause the start of tooth decay. P.s. I don't mean this as an attack on your hygiene...

Re: Elastic gone?

Yes just call them. It will take 30 seconds to clip the wire and put a new ligature on. Without it, the bracket is doing nothing as its not connected to the wire in any way.

Re: Can I wait 1 week to replace a broken bracket?

I would ring them and ask. If they say come in then try and get it scheduled as a proper appointment instead of next weeks.

Re: Lost My retainers :(

No they will hold them in whatever shape they were when the mold was taken. Does your ortho not have copies of your original mold from when you were debraced?

Re: Sydney Australia - Broken Bracket Costs

I'm assuming as you said you went to the nearest ortho that you are not being treated there normally, which would explain why they are charging so much. Why not phone your regular ortho and ask advice. They may just say leave it til you come back.

Re: Smoking with Essix Retainers

Why not just take them out and replace after? I would think they would get pretty disgusting if you smoke with them in!

Re: Price difference between regular braces and lingual

Lingual are more expensive because each bracket is shaped to the back of the tooth. They seem to cause a lot of speech problem so even if people can't seem them they probably wonder why you are lisping all the time! Linguals also can't be used in all cases.

Re: Help!! Newbie braces fitted yesterday and broken bracket

I have to say I had good intentions when I started my blog but obviously forgot about it when I got busy! My braces are off now and its been 100% worth it. The kids will be curious and ask questions but I never had a bad comment. You will get used to them very quickly, but make sure you take wax and...

Re: Help!! Newbie braces fitted yesterday and broken bracket

No its not an emergency just ring back on Monday. It's quite common for brackets to pop off early on especially if that particular tooth is very out of line or rotated, or if it has a crown on it.

Re: Molar bands

You won't necessarily have molar bands, not all braces need them.
