Dead tooth after surgery

Hey Everyone I had SARPE surgery 3 months ago and I was about to get my braces put on when we noticed that my front tooth is now grey and looks like it has died. The ortho said it could be from any trauma not necessarily from surgery. I now need a root canal before I can get braces. Has anyone had s...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Well I have suffered my first infection arrghhh and it doesnt want to clear up. I went on holidays and one of my plates got infected, which is the number one side effect of having the implants. I still think my face is still swollen and its been 3 months since surgery but my gap has almost closed an...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi Was just wondering if I might need SARPE surgery. How narrow does your palate have to be to need this surgery? I cant lay my tongue comfortably on the roof of my mouth if you know what I mean? I have braces on at the minute for double jaw surgery will they improve it? Would really appreciate if ...

Braces while pregnant

Hey Everyone I have braces and we are thinking of having a baby within the time I have my braces on. I havent found too much information about having braces on while pregnant, but most of the info I have found said its quite safe and that your teeth actually move faster, speeding up the process. Jus...

Re: Sarpe and underbite correction

Hi Dina I dont have an underbite mine is an open bite and most of the time you require surgery to correct an open bite, but im not having full jaw surgery. I had sarpe surgery 4 weeks ago and they inserted 4 anchorage implants/plates that are going to correct my bite instead of further surgery. I wi...

Re: tongue thrust treatment

Are there other alternatives to treat tongue thrust? I do remember my dentist saying I have it on my first consult but so much was said to me that day I dont really remember the specifics. I vaguely remember him saying he is not sure if its because of my narrow palate and open bite or if this actual...

Re: SARPE Surgery

peckabel, don't worry. I assume you're sure you're turning the key correctly? The gap between your teeth is no indication at all of how much your palate has expanded. You could even find your teeth moving back together again. They wander all over the place at this stage :) . WaterBoy that nosebleed...

Re: SARPE Surgery

A questions for fellow SARPE buddies.. It may be a bit premature to be worried but i have been turning once a day for nearly 4 weeks and when I measure my gap its only at 5mm, my calculations say it should be about 6.5mm. The bit I am worried about is that i don't think the gap has gotten any wider ...

Re: Getting braced...AGAIN!!!!

To make you feel a bit better I am on my 3rd set of braces!! I had braces for 4 years when I was younger, then 2 yrs later had them put back on the top only as my teeth had shifted. I actually complained and refused to pay for the second round of treatment. Even after my second set and wearing the r...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi everyone! I had my sarpe surgery on April 6, and started turning my expander yesterday and have done it twice now, but I'm not seeing much development of a gap. From what I've heard from this board, the gap is pretty immediate in most cases. Is it abnormal that I haven't seen a change 2 turns in...

Re: Sarpe and mandibular distraction

hi everyone :) i just stumbled across this board by accident - i just had my sarpe surgery on wednesday, and started turning the expander today. i've got a quick question for all you sarpe veterans - my orthodontist said to expect a gap no larger than the width of a string of spaghetti between my f...
